hello everyone, i have been lurking here for a while posting some and making questions some...we are leaving tomorrow morning for my surgery on monday, i have to go about 3 hours away for surgery so we are going to make a mini vacation out of this...
my pre op has been a detailed food plan certain things for each meal and snacks, but on sunday, i have to do the clear liquids and no liquids after midnight, i have to do the bowel prep, and take showers with some special very strong anti bacterial soap they gave me, once sunday night, and then just before i leave for hospital monday morning...did anyone else have to use this soap? its called "hibiclens"

so what all did you drink on your clear liquids beside crystal lite?
any suggestiong on getting down the bowel prep stuff? i got the lemon flavor,  i have a very bad gag reflex so i know i will be gagging on this.
i have to go to a motel for 2 days after surgery and will be on pureed then, and then for 2 weeks when i get home...i was going to take some chicken garden can of soup (chicekn and vegges, no rice or pasta) and blend it to pudding and pour into some ice cube trays and just use those as needed, good idea? bad idea? i dont want to pack my whole kitchen to the motel...i have a long list of things i can have, but trying to wrap my mind around fixing them in motel room with only fridge and microwave is a bit touch..

anyhow, thanks for any help, and talk to you when i get on the other side

Good luck with your surgery.  I'm right there with you.  My surgery is on Monday too!  Not looking forward to the clear liquid day on Sunday and the bowel prep either.  I have the Hibiclens soap to use too.  I'm going to add some chicken broth to my clear liquid diet on Sunday so I don't feel like I'm starving.

Hibiclens is no big deal to use (if you have very sensitive skin, try a small patch before you use it on your whole abdomen.

the bowel prep stuff, try to drink it down without tasting it, and follow it with water.  then do not stray from the bathroom area.

Don't worry too much about food.   Water is most important.  I wasn't much interested in food for a couple of days.

I also have surgery Monday morning @ 10AM!  I don't have to do the prep, but do have to do clear liquids on Sunday and nothing after midnight.  I have jello, broth, crystal light, ginger ale all set for Sunday.  Not looking forward to it, but the pre op diet hasn't been easy either!  Good luck!

my pre op food plan has not been too, too bad...i do get to eat...i have shake in morning with a peice of fruit, mid morn snack is a shake, lunch is 8 oz yogurt with 4 ox fruit ir vegge, then afternoon snack is 1 oz nuts, or 2 tablespoons of peanutbutter, or 1/2 cup of beans OR hummus along with 4 oz fruit or vegge...then dinner is 4 oz lean meat AND 4 oz vegge AND 1/2 cup whole grain starch OR 1 slice whole grain bread...then evening snack is shake...so it was OK, not that bad....and if did not get something in on one time, i could add it to later so that was nice..i usually saved my peanut butter or half of it for before bed time...so far i have been getting 1-2 protein shakes in, but not all of them...
thanks for the help
have a great da

I have surgery on Monday too.  I was on a 10 day diet plan.  Protein drinks and tuna and veggies the first 7 day.  Today I started my liquid diet.  3 days of that and Monday will be here.  I have to be at the hospital at 5:45am.  I am #1 on the surgery list.  My doctor said he'd be sure and get a good nights sleep Sunday for me.  He has a sence of humor that I like.  Good Luck to everyone that has surgery on Monday.  I'll say a prayer for all of us!
