C-section vs RNY?
I've been wondering this too! I've had 3 c-sections (2004, 2005, 2007). My first one was HORRIBLE, but the second one and the third one were easy as heck (I think because I can't really feel anything around my scar anymore). I have been wondering how the two compare since I first started thinking about having the surgery, but I didn't even think to ask. Thank you so much for asking this amazing question!!!
I had RNY first then the c-section and I think the pain from RNY was absolutely worse than my c-section.

I haven't had any c-sectins but did donate a kidney. I was cut below the bikini line (like a c-section) and had 3 lap scars. My RNY I have 5 small incisions. The kidney surgery was worse pain wise. I was out 6 weeks.....My RNY has been amazing! The incision that "hurt" the most was where my JP drain was. Still very tender. I think it depends on how active you were before surgery. I play tennis about 4x's a week and walk about 5 miles a week. Don't get freaked out my what the pain will be. They give you very good drugs to help with that while in the hospital:) Good luck!
i have had 4 csections the last being 20 years ago today. I had the lap rny 6 days ago and the pain was definately worse with each csection. I have had no pain meds at home, but mostly discomfort. The gas is horrible, I knew it would be but it still got me real good. It gets better the more you walk and expell some of it. I did a lot of walking in the hospital and now that im home i do normal housework, walk around stores for a bit and do stairs normally. After my csections it hurt to roll over in bed, get up and down, and couldnt do a whole lot without pain. SO, hopefully for you this lap rny will find you feeling more painfree then your csections. Good luck and walk after!!!
I have had 2 csections (for two multiple birth pregnancies-twins and triplets) and the pain from my lap RNY was far worse for me. I've had in total about 7 abdominal surgeries (mostly open) and I thought that the lap procedure would be a breeze, no big deal right. For me it was a big deal. My left side incision pain was the worst for me and lingered for a very long time. I think (for me) that having babies and having my mind off the csection pain was what got me through it easier. But truthfully, my csections were not bad at all, and I was healed up in 2 weeks time. I was down for the count with RNY for a good month, not healing wise, but just because its such a major procedure and our bodies need that time to heal.
This is just my own personal experience and like others that have replied, everyone has a different experience. Some don't have any pain at all from the get go. Some have significant pain. Its all different. That being said, I would do it over again in a second! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my RNY surgery and thank my surgeon for saving my life!
