well tomorrow is finally the day for my surgery. i haven't been nervous up until this point. i still am not too nervous but i feel it coming and i'm starting to panic. also today i was on my way home and of course the song "if today was your last day" was on the radio as soon as i started my car...i haven't heard that song since last year and im like what a LOVELY song to be on the radio the night before surgery lol. i am paranoid that i'm not going to wake up from surgery, and i'm nervous about pulmonary embolisms and blood clots. sigh. i need some words of encouragement lol.

to those of you who also have surgery tomorrow ( i know there are many ) GOOD LUCK!!!

any helpful tips for surgery would be great. thanks

My surgery is next month.  I do, however, know a bit about surgery..  I am a nurse in pre-op.  There is always a risk of a PE but it's rare.  I'm sure you will get heparin pre op and they will get you out of bed same day,  it's best to be up and about . You will do great!
I have a question, how soon did you get insurance approval? My biggest fear is that they wont approve me.
Good Luck :)

insurance approval took exactly 1 week(or 5 business days)

Think positive thoughts and remember this is the first step in a new, healthier you. I have lost 125 lbs since Sept 21st.  I feel so much better, my knees don't hurt all the time, I'm never out of breath, and I've got tons of energy.  You are going to wake up and begin your new journey. Best wishes for a smooth, uneventful surgery.  Be thinking of you tomorrow!

I'm only 3 days out but I had all the same fears you're having and everything went fine.   I'm know the doctor and nurses will take real good care of you in the hospital.  I can tell you not to worry but you probably still will - I know I did when others told me that lol but you'll do great. ((Hugs)) and good luck!!

You will wake up and as long as you move/walk you will be a low risk for blood clots.

You've been doing your homework, asking questions and getting informed.  You will do great.  Good luck!
