ok folks, i know that everyone has sometihng different for their pre op diet and the such.
my dr had a very specific food plan that i had to follow, and to me it was not that bad, and it has made the transition to eating now post op not so bad.... so this is how i what i have done since Dec 10th. i was told to cut my portions in half and eat no white refined sugar or flour or potatoes, this was at my drs appt in december, my surgery was not until april 4th, but did not know that at the time, they were shooting for the end of march, but  i had to have some cardio cleareances that took a little while to get cleared. at this time i took myself off my one can a day of real coke that i was drinking a day, i was already drinking about 64 oz of water a day with my one can of coke a day...when i wanted to have a drink of coke, i had started making fresh squeezed lemonadie with splenda and stevia, that was how i got off the coke.

ok, now here is my pre op food plan that i had to follow for about 2 weeks
BREAKFAST
8 oz skim or 1% milk, and 1.2 scoop of protein poweder
4 oz of fruit

MID MORNING
1 protein drink (milk or water based) 1 full scoop of powder

LUNCH
6-8 oz yogurt light, i ate oiskis strawberry 4 oz
4 oz vegge or fruit

AFTERNOON SNACK
1 oz of nuts, OR 2 tablespoon peanutbutter OR 1/2 cups beans OR hummus
and 4 oz fruit

DINNER
4 oz lean protein (meat)
4 oz vegge with 1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup whole grain starch OR 1 slice of whole wheat bread

EVENING SNACK
8 oz milk with 1/2 scoop protein powder
4 oz fruit
now i did cheat a littel bit with a hunk of cheese instead of the milk as i am not a milk drinker, i did use the nectar twisted cherry in my lemonade for the protein drink, i did have a few licks of peanut butter when it was not time...but i never really did have the whole 2 tablespoons at any one time..that seemed like alot to me at one time...i did eat some trail mix with mixed nuts and raisens for the nuts....yeppers, once in a while there was a m & m in there, but i really did try not to eat those much..it it was a nice mixture...

anyhow now here i am almost 2 weeks post op and i came home on purred foods from surgery with the same type of food plan, but now i only get the 1.5 to 2 oz of pureed protein and 1 oz of fruit..same type of eating plan...this is my eating plan for the next 6 months, each 2 weeks adding more food to the plan and slightly increasing the oz up to about 5 oz of protein meat when i am more like 7 months out....

anyhow now that i am doing the purred it is not that big of a deal to eat such a little bit now and i have really felt deprived of food as of yet....yes i have wanted pizza and burgers, but when i ate dinner i would have the beef patty with cheese and no bun
i never did have to do just the clear liquids but just monday and tuesday in the hospital and that was rough as i can not handle asparteme so i was very limited to what i could drink, no crystal light, no jello etc...

just a htought if you would like to try something like this before you do your clear liquids as it will wean you off foods and get your a little pre pared for your new way of eating..htis food plan was not really that bad to try an follow, and it made me start to be scheduled for now as i have to time everything i eat and drink to get all vitamins and food in and the such...

sorry this was so long, but i just wanted to give a little help to those that are just starting this process, since dec 10th i lost 22 pounds before i left for surgery...came home on friday 8 pounds up with the fluids they gave me...today i am down 10 pounds since coming home from hospital which i know was the fluids...but here is the big news

i was taken off my diabetic medicines while i was  still in hospital, i have a call into my PCM today as my blood pressure is like normal and may be taken off my blood pressure medicine today..i have never seen these numbers in my whole adult life for blood pressure...

have a great day and i hope this was somewhat helpful to someone just starting out
