anyone want to speculate on
I am 54 years old so hot flashes are something I expect from time to time. I get them right when I eat but its when I eat protein. It also happens when I drink a protein shake with few if any carbs in it. Steak brings it on as well. Carbs do not though they cause their own set of undesirable symptoms so I avoid low nutrition carbs. Fortunately it goes away within ten minutes or less and I have grown used to it. If its menopause related I expect it will diminish over time but of course if it is RNY related than who knows.

Lately it happens no matter what I eat. Its only last a few min ... and there is no pain just a HOT FLASH I get really hot - sometimes a lil sweaty but its very occassional
I dont dump on sugar - I have tried things to see- Yesterday ( I KNOW YOU WILL ALL BE PISSED AND JUDGE ME) but i had like 4 sips of a slurpee and that is pure sugar and no dump and no hot flash ...
I know greesy stuff gets stuck - and i dont dump on that ....if i eat chicken consistency it has to be breaded slightly as breaded stuff goes down better for me than non ...Iam a vegetarian so most stuff goes down well as long as its not microwaved.
no palpitations, nothing else- just the hot flash

No judging here. I would so have a sip of soda from time to time because I still love it. You did not drink the whole slurpee so no worries. But that is exactly how the flashes are for me. They come on right as I am finishing what I am eating and are gone in a few minutes.

the slurpee would have done it to me... I DO avoid sugar--but sometimes it's not my fault I end up with sugar (like the idiot at the coffee shop using REAL sugar instead of the SPLENDA I ordered)
And yes, breaded goes down better for me too, seems to keep it moister. And I'm talking shake-n-bake, not fried. 2 chicken nuggets will do it to me but 1/2 of a lunch order of shrimp alfredo from Olive Garden doesn't, so go figure!! So it can't simply be the fat and/or carbs as several have said to me! And fried SHRIMP goes down fine, so it's not that it's fried food either. Just one of the mysteries of RNY I guess. I don't get the palpitations either, just flushed and occassionally I'll actually break a sweat. Also has happened drinking a low-sugar RTD protein shake...

So....what foods do you imbibe that DO cause this hot flash?
Not gonna judge anyone on what they eat (unless you are driving home from the hospital and stop for a four-pack of big-macs)
So..... what do you eat that brings on the hot flash?
Are you pre-menopausal? Could that be it (I am clueless about such things)..... could it be a reaction t oa particular artificial sweetener..
Narrow down the foods that cause the hot flash, and see if there is a common thread.
