Sorry TMI...Constipated

RNY on 11/01/10 with
I take milk of magnesia tablets (I break them in half) 2 tablets twice a day, plus a probiotic PB8, at night and I make hemp protein muffins with oatbran that I sometimes eat twice a day. This is important, more so than people realize. Your commitment to RNY is also one to tending to your bowels. We ignore them until they get all effed up and then we panic, LOL! not me, never again. I got tired of dulcolax suppositories and the subsequent mucous flatulence (yep my turn for TMI!)

I have never heard it mentioned on the boards but I started eating Activia every day and it seems to be helping! After 8 days of const. I tried it and after 2 days it happened. Then after another 6 day standoff I started again and went the next day. Now I just eat it every day and I now go every other day :)

I am starting to have the same issurs.  My Dr. recommended Miralax....@ PerfumeSheep----can you post recipe for your muffins.  I love to cook  and am always looking for something new to try.  Could you also include the specific protein that you use:)  Thanks!

dr recommended miralax for my mom when she had that problem post-op too.

(considering the malabsorption, 1 colace is probably not going to do much for u.  might want to consider the miralax.  unless uve shown previous sensitivity to laxatives &/or stool softeners, i dont think theres much chance of it "catching u at a bad time" - which i translate to mean when u cant get to the bathroom in time?)

Thank you everyone. I went to bed early last night and did not read until this am. I took 2 more stool softeners. I also got some apple juice (light) and some applesauce that I will warm up and get going. I did got this morning. Whew, back to life. Sorry to overshare. Now maybe the scale will move, since I can eat again.

I take magnesium supplements every night with my vitamins, keeps things moving.
