NOT! I can't remember how much I lost the first week, the first month, etc. I tossed my scale the day I left for the surgery and knew it would work, and didn't look back for ONE YEAR. I didn't torture myself with worry about gain or not losing, either. HOW?
I did my homework on the procedure first and KNEW from that and the wonderful SUPPORT GROUP my surgeon had that the surgery is a "TOOL" and if abused, you WILL REGAIN EVERY POUND.
I met people sharing, online, how to cheat and eat things I wasn't supposed to, drink things that were not allowed and I DISTANCED MYSELF FROM THEM. I got counseling BEFORE surgery to know what my eating triggers were...and I am stuggling with one of them now...empty nest...regain of 33 lbs over the last year. I never strive for perfection...and am accountable.
Winners hang with other winners~~and do well!

to all the comments about comparing myself to others, i'm not. i really am just CURIOUS the differences in each person. i would never and have never compared any loss of mine even before RNY to someone else because i know every persons body is different! i was just curious about what the first week was like for everyone. i see posts on here on how much people lost in 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year and all i was curious about was one week, because no one has ever mentioned it.
I was retaining water BAD when I went in for surgery
I peed that out overnight the night of surgery 15 LBS worth.
(I literally had to use the restroom every 20 minutes for about 10 hours)
I lost 9 lbs the rest of week 1
I lost ONE pound in week 2
week 3 NOTHING
week 4 NOTHING
week 5 NOTHING
week 6 NOTHING
week 7 NOTHING
week 8 NOTHING
The first two months of ANY person's weight loss journey is just NOT comparable. Seriously.... way too many variables..
What I think is a reallly good decision point is to wait until you are six months out.. if you've lost more than half your excess weight, you're doing great. If you have lost HALF you're average, and if you are less than half, you're a bit of a slow loser.
So to my way of looking at it, nobody can call themselves a slow loser until six months out.
