I'm 18 months out....at goal....and running a marathon next month.  Regrets?  I don't think so. :)

First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.

I gotta weigh in on this topic too. I was scared too from reading all the post on here about complications. I never wanted to back out but it went through my mind that something could definitely go wrong or I might die. The truth is I was slowly dying from all the weight I was carrying around. i was 512 lbs and couldnt do anything anymore. I stayed home all the time and was becoming a a recluse. I have a 9 year old little girl and I HAD TO DO SOMETHING!! So I did it. I had surgery just a month ago and have had no problems. The only pain I really had was in recovery after surgery. Once they got me shot full of dilaudid I was fine and went home 2 days later. I have a little tightness sometimes when I eat or if I drink too fast but no real pain at all. I haven't vomited either. I am SOOOOO glad i did this and wouldn't change it for the world. Hopefully it will continue like this but a few complications along the way will be dealt with. I am very in tune with my body and will go to the ER if I have anything i think is not normal. I'm not going to tell you what to do because that decision is personal and totally up to you. Just pray to GOD and the solution will come to you. Good luck to you and God bless!!

I am 8 years post op.  I would do it again tomorrow.  Sure some people have problems but most don't.  People will post their gawdawful problem while they are in the muck.  Once it's over they are again happy they did it.  Everyone is different.  It's true that a lot of us(most?) were dying in variour degrees from obesity related issues.  We are alive now and have a long healthy life to look forward to.  Finish doing your research then go for it!  There is a lot of support here.  Don't be scared off by someone that is having an issue.  You will be fine - thin and healthy.   Take a step of faith in yourself and embrace the posibilities!

Remember that for every one person who complains about their surgery there are at least 100 people (conservative guess) who have had the surgery who are very happily out living their lives and not posting on OH.
