You could try Femcon FE, it's a chewable BC pill. It's what I take, tastes Minty and not bad at all cause it's tiny.

I only had my Mirena 6 months.  I couldn't take it any longer.  I had a lot of cramping, my skin was horrible, and my bf could feel the strings even after they shortened them.  My periods were much lighter, but my Loestrin does that too.  It was nice not taking a pill but I make sure I have a reminder on my phone.

Haven't had a single problem with it. No crazy side effects or anything either. Really recommend it. It's the only kind I have ever been on.

I'm sorry you guys had bad ezperiences with the Mirena. I absolutely love mine, in fact I'm on my second one! It might not be the case, but to the OP were the strings cut too short and that's why they got lost, or did they just get lost? My doc leaves the strings on the longer side because he said if you get them too short they can get lost or your partner has a better chance of feeling them. This is probably TMI, but he cuts them on the longer side where I don't have to go far to feel them, but I have to find them because it lays so close to the wall that you can't tell. Any "man friend" I've had has never known until I told him (if we were that close), and even then they've said they had to think about it to feel it. I just wanted to give a favorable opinion on the Mirena, as to not scare anyone off. I have had absolutely no side effects, except good ones. About once every 6 months I get 1 huge cramp for about 5 min, and then it's gone until next time. I haven't had a period in 7 years, except I spotted for the first 2 weeks it was in. So ladies, I'd take a chance and see because it's been a blessing for me!!

Because of anemia, my dr has me on seasonique. I have a uterus that would never end the "monthly party" if it weren't for the birth control, or at least I did 127 pounds ago. We'll check in August to see if it's going to fix itself with this much weight off. It was the prediction of all my doctors that it would fix itself if I lost weight, but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyway, I have not seen any indication of not absorbing the seasonique pills. So, they have been working well for me. I don't know if I could trust the pill alone if I didn't see the clear sign (the bleeding stopped) when I started taking the pills.

Lastly, I took the depo shot 3 times and it worked less and less over the course of those 9 months. It also leeches calcium from your bones and they want you to take extra calcium while you are on the depo shot. Since I already have to take at least 3 doses of calcium a day just to be within ASMBS recommendations, I wouldn't keep going with that shot even if it had worked for me...

Good luck with your search! :D

Huggles!!

I am using the nuvaring.  It is super easy and you don't have to think about it every day.  You can't feel it and you can take it out for intercourse (as long as you put it back in right away).

I don't trust the pill.  Oldest is a 'pill baby'.
