those that are few month before surgery pre op..suggestions
hello folks, i just wanted to give you a little advice or suggestions to try and do now before you get close to your surgery...i had been making extra amounts of food when i was cooking well before surgery..i put it up in the freezer for NOW...i had taco meat, chicken chili, stuffed pepper meatballs with sauce, etc, i put it in the small size quart baggies and they have come in so handy NOW....i am just 3 weeks out and hubby has been eating like he did before i had surgery..well kinda..just less than what WE did together.....i have been eating the taco meat, just thaw and re heat as needed....
the other day we had a big day, both were tired and i did not want to cook, and nothing sounded good to order in that could be delivered and so i remembered i had a couple of bags of chicken chili in the freezer...pulled it out and that is whay hubby had, i ate some other stuff since i am not eating that much..but i did pull a small out for me the next day...he got 2 meals out of the baggie...tonight he is having stuffed pepper meatballs with sauce that he loves..normally he would have mashed taters and other fixings..but today just the meatballs and sauce, i made them for his birthday the end of march....there are still some meatballs left and he can a have a hot meaball sub tomorrow night....we havent been buyin much at the stores as we keep saying we have to eat what is in the freezer..and we are, but for some reason it is not getting empty....i think the lord keeps refilling it as i take something out....
just an idea to help you get a little better prepared...and get your benefiber, miralax and stool softenrs NOW as you will need them.....i just got over a major bout...and i do major...but thats another thread by itself...
hope this give you some ideas to get ahead
have a great day

if your going to use the quart size or the gallon size ziplock baggies, remember to flatten them out and you can stack them in the freezer and they are easy to get out too..make sure you label them with a date as to when you put them in the freezer...i have been doing this for quite a while and it makes it nice..i call it my "few days cooking, alot of eating" spaghetti sauce goes in teh baggies real well too..i have done meatloaf, gotten it all ready and then just put in freezer, thaw, and mush into a pan and put in oven...i have one time of messy hands, then i just use the baggie to mush in the pan with...anwyhow have a great time cooking..

Thank you for this suggestion, I was going to mak some soups to freeze but chili and meat balls would be great as well! Ive already stocked up on benefiber, miralax etc via my couponing these past couple of months. Bit by bit, i just want to focus on me andmy health instead of trying to find things my first few weeks out! May 19,... :)
