Tonight I am attending the Weight Loss Seminar for the surgeon that my insurance has approved.  I had the lapband in Nov. 2006....only because that was the only surgery my surgeon in town was offering.  Had nothing but trouble.

I have Tricare Prime and they are sending me to a Baratric Center of Excellence in Tampa, Fl.  About 40 min. from where I live..........looking into getting a revision from the lapband to the RNY.  This seminar is manditory before they set up your 1st consult with the surgeon. So excited to get lots of info tonight on the various procedures he does do!!  I will repost tomorrow and let you all know how I made out!!!

Wow!!  I wish I would of went to this type of seminar back in 2006 when I had the lapband.  Unfortunately the dr I had only did lapbands....... so the hype was good.  This dr. perform 3 types of weight loss surgeries............so I lstened carefully.  It was great........I was impressed with the way the surgeon explained everything.

Today they will call me with my 1st consult appt.  So so happy!!  I want this band out of me.............now I know after listening to him..........this was not meant for me!!  I am not crazy.........I feel so much better about myself...I did not fail.........it wasn't the right surgery for me!!  My heart is so much lighter today!!

More latr.......Holly

I have learned so much about Tricare Prime at the seminar.  Tricare does not have you follow any pre-operative diet!!  Thank God......neither does my surgeon.  He said a couple of days before...liquids.  I can handle that.

I got my 1st consult and 6 other visits immediately with Tricare after my PCP submitted the request.  From what I understand Tricare picks up everything except $175 nutrionionist fee and my surgeon requires $500 program fee 2 weeks prior to surgery.  I can handle that.

When I had the lapband 4 1/2 years ago Tricare Prime didn't pick up the lapband so I paid cash for that surgery.  It was experminatal back then.  But with the failue of the lapband there is no problem getting approval for a revision.  So I feel blest to be having this 2nd chance.  After the seminar I now know why the lapband shouldn't of been my choice.  My surgeon explained the lapband, the sleeve, and the RNY.  He believes everyone is different.........it isn't a one size fits all!!  I like that and respect that!!

I am going to put you on my friend list.  Any questions or just wanta say hi do drop by and leave me a message!!

I'm so happy for you Holly!!!  I think I already told you my seminar is next Wednesday (but I like saying it, so there, I said it again LOL).  My surgeon tricare is sending me to is also about 45 mins from me but I've heard nothing but good things about him AND his staff so I have complete faith in him. I too will have to pay for my NUT (which is only $30), the program fee (which is $250), but I think I also have to pay for the psych evaluation and I've heard she's $350.  But in my eyes coming up with $630 for a $40,000+ procedure is a GREAT deal lol.

Have a great weekend!!

Welcome to the forum!  There is sooooo much info here.  I've become obsessed with searching the forum and of course looking at everyone's before and after pics.  You are going to love it here!

Are you having your surgery done at your MTF or off post?

I have a civilian PCP so she put in for a civilian surgeon, but Tricare comeback with th MTF. I have only know one person who has gone through post, but she said great things, and said its a quick process. As my hubby said Tricare approved to pay for it so it's good either way. I'm really excited. I can't wait for my seminar on the 19th. I keep looking through all the posts. I have so many questions, now I know where i can come. Thanks for the welcome.
