I hope it gets better!!!
I am almost 6 weeks out from surgery. I have been doing pretty good with everything excep****er. I do get at least 40-50 ounces of water per day in but just can't get that last little bit. Between vitamins and protein I just don't feel like I can put anything else in there without puking. Even taking the vitamins and drinking the water gags me. Any I don't want to eat much other that my protein shakes. I use the syntrax nectar sweets with 8 ozs skim milk twice a day so I am getting about 64 grams of protein in and I do supplement that in the afternoons with a couple of scrambled eggs or something high in protein like that. I try to do about 15-20 grams of protein midday to help get my protein up. The thing is NOTHING really tastes good to me anymore. The water is horrendous and the shakes are awful now too. I liked them in the beginning. God, I hope this passes. I guess everyone was right when they said our taste changes.

It will get better. But your shakes do count toward your 64 ounces of water.

Try the protein shakes with water.....they'll go down easier.. I mix with water (unless it is chocolate flavored powders, they just don't seem to go with water to me)
It DOES get better..... it just takes time
Right now it's like you have to get a LOT of medicine in, but that is how it is.

I chased my dreams, and my dreams, they caught me!
I don't think I could mix them with water..lol I sure didn't know the shakes counted towards the water. I have considered adding a little water to the shakes to kinda weaken them a little. they are kinda sweet to me. and that will help with the water issues too. I tried the nectars that you are supposed to mix with water but just could NOT do it. They made me gag too. I guess if I am getting 40 ounces of water and 2 8 oz shakes I am pretty close to my water requirements. I do better some days than others...I will be glad when things get better. I just can't seem to do it like I did in the beginning. I feel so full ALL the time.

This was my hardest time for me also. I could not drink the shakes at all they all make me so sick.
I stuck to eating protein and now I can tolerate more. I does take time. I thought I was failing. But things did get better.

You will make it. It will get easier. I know I heard that from everyone. It is hard to believe sometimes at the point you are at but it will, I promise.

I think I am going to give myself a rest for a few days and see if that helps. i will still do my shakes but let the vitamins pass for a few days. They seem to be the problem. I don't know how we are supposed to put so much down our throats everyday with so little room. The only things that taste good to me right now is Wendy's chili and I can have that and right now I am eating a little applesauce. It tastes good to me and I don't want to gag. I was fine right after sugery. This all just started and I'm not throwing up ar having any pain. I just don't want to eat or drink.

I'm still preop, but I already have trouble tolerating water. Have you tried Mio liquid? It has no sugar, fat, caffeine or calories. You control how much you put in your water so you can make it as strong or as mild as you want the flavor. I imagine it can be added to protein as well.
I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'm hoping the Six Star Whey that I have been using preop will still be tolerable after.
Good luck to you.
