Tax Deductible!

For a FSA to cover them you do need a prescription.  Food (protein powder) is specifically excluded.  I checked due the 6 weeks of Optifast I am purchasing which is $130/week

Check your sources of this information. When I filed my taxes this year, my understanding was that protein, food, vitamins and minerals can be purchased with pre-tax dollars in a flex plan, but they are not deductible like office visits, surgery and medications.

They are deductible, yes. Hubby works for H&R Block and checked because I asked him to--and we did claim them this year. We had MORE than enough to be well over the certain percentage we had to be above since my health insurance was $1000 a month...
