Rapid Heart Beat!!!

I have had anxiety for prior years before surgery and now I have had a rapid heart beat since surgery. Which only during a  panic attack would I have that before. So I am having a hard time sleeping because of it... Has anyone else every been through this???

I did, in the hospital.  Turned out I had dangerously low potassium levels.  They had to medically restart my heart three times (in an effort to slow it down so that I wouldn't have a heart attack) before they figured out what was causing it.  Once they did, they put me on potassium and my heart rate gradually went down. Go see your doctor ASAP, if it's low potassium it can be very serious and yet can be very easily remedied with potassium pills.  IF that's what it is.  Either way, go see your doc.

There are a number of things that can cause a racing heart like low potassium,anemia,dehydration and more.  Bottom line, see your doctor and let him/her find out the cause.  Impossible to guess without actually measuring your vital signs, and an EKG and labs.
