Emergency Room last nite

....for a lodged piece of fish!

I had been sick for hours, and couldn't seem to clear. This was my fault: I was eating a small piece of haddock (a white, light, flaky fish, usually) that happened to be drier, with a dried edge to it, and I did not chew enough. I have been able to eat moist, flaky, mashed fish. I could not believe the pain - right in the middle of my chest under my sternum! I contined to be sick in the ER and finally I cleared it! They sent me home after I was able to drink a cup of water and finish my IV bag. Thank goodness......but a HUGE lesson learned. Still concerned about a stricture and part of me wishes I could have had the upper endoscopy scope just to be sure.

The thing is, I am 3 weeks out and I feel great. I have lost 13 pounds. I am staying the course. The problem is that physically, I feel "normal" but I have to keep telling myself this IS my NORMAL, what I have to do and adjust and accept this. I do not have hunger so I am great there, but always, always, always have to remember the rules to this!

This is one lesson I will NOT forget........

I'm so sorry. I went through that at three weeks. I didn't have to go to the ER but I was miserable and throwing up for hours. It was also because of fish - kinda dry salmon. And I seem to notice that if I am having lunch out with someone and talking I am less aware of how I am chewing, etc. Hope you feel better today!

The most common food that gets stuck for me is a pear.  If I get that pain, I can usually make myself throw it up and get immediate relief.  I have to make a true effort to eat it slow.
