Chronic pain/ stop meds before surgery?

 I am having my surgery in 2q weeks. I have been on percocet after a car accident that herniated discs and  cut the top part of my right hand pointer. I know I built up a tolerance to the pain meds. Should I tell the Dr. this? I dont want him thinking the wrong thing and I dont want my surgery cancelled. Any ideas?
