I don't know what happened!!

We are about the same surgery date too! I am sorry you are going trough this. I tried fish early out and had the burping with foam but I never threw up, a painful feeling in my chest too. So I haven't had it since.  I did try salmon the other day and did fine with it.  I would try canned chicken as it is sofer, tuna and crab also come in canned.  If the chicken sets out for awhile it sometimes can set funny for people with RNY, I usually don't have leftovers.  If I get a rotisserie I always get it as they are putting it out, we usually time it after church and they are putting them out around noon.  Hang in there, it is so hard trying new foods, it makes you scared to do it.  Keep up with your protein drinks on days like those when the food just won't sit well!

One other thing I try with chicken and pork is I have a couple of tablespoons of mashed potatoes and eat the bites with that. It helps soften the meat. I also used chicken broth or cream soups when I pureed my meats...that really helps them get down easier!

Protein does NOT cause dumping....Only sugars, carbohydrates and high saturated fats (like fried food).

What you got is "foamies" and stuff STUCK. Next time cook the chicken all day in a crock pot or eat it in soup, etc...Meat with sauce goes down NICE..."dry" chicken or beef doesn't go down nice.

Believe me, if you ever "dump" you will know (and most people do NOT dump)...You will get racing heart beat, a feeling of doom, extreme pain, passing out, shakes, etc.... Late dumping causes diarrhea, extreme intestinal cramps (like food poisoning), siezures and a general feeling of wanting to just shoot yourself in the head...(NOt exagerating). Some people call Late Dumping "Reactive Hypoglycemia".

When you eat meat, make sure it is very moist, and chew it until it is the consistancy of applesauce... If you eat too fast, or bites that are too big, you will "foam" and get exactly what happened to you.

Good luck!
Warmly,
Jackie

Thanks Jackie. I don't intend on dong chicken at all for a while. I plan to live on my shakes and maybe some applesauce or pudding until I can move to soft foods in 2 weeks. I don't really want anything else anyway. I was just tired of the shakes and wanted something with a little taste and texture. it made me think twice..lol

If it is on your plan, you can put soup in the blender and puree it .  My sister pureed homemade chicken soup for me when I was at that phase and it was wonderful.  Real food tasting, not sweet like the shakes.

The only time I have had foamies was when I ate too fast and didn't chew well enough.  Once was enought for me to change my habits.
