I had my rny 2-2-10    Ive gone from severe constipation to 7 days of extreme  opposite. I will leave out the unmentionable.   I looked it up on google, I saw two things .  1. lactose intolerant
2. malnutrition.      Im not losing anymore since month 12 so Im  eating enough calories. I do have that gaunt look in my face and  pretty much have no muscle( but that is all my fault.)     Ive never never never had trouble eating.  I actually want to eat  24/7
I noticed about  5-6 weeks ago my abdomen was hard and pooching  out  but usually  no pain I assumed it was a hernia. Now I have severe gas  and diarrhea , I ve never dumped as far as I know and  yes Im eating  a few  carbs with too much sugar which would be a cinn roll or  cheerios with almond milk , grapes and half banana  because Im below goal. BUT before  I get rude comments for that I usually  eat  baked  grilled  low fat meats and low fat veggies and lower carbs .   I know carbs make me fat so Im trying to get better control again.   So too many carbs  or lact intolerant?                 thanks

Diagnosing yourself by googling your symptoms can be dangerous. GO TO YOUR DOCTOR. There are many problems that could be causing your symptoms that have absolutely nothing to do with your surgery or what you're eating. And some of them can be life-threatening. If this has been going on for over a month, you need to get checked out NOW.

I became lactose intolerant after my RNY.  Not sure if that is what is happening with you.  But I miss my skim milk and my occasional scoop of ice cream.  Sick within minutes...

I also get sick on miracle whip.... just spread on a sandwich thin...  ugh....

I have days with too many carbs.... but it isn't daily...

take care of you

I was told that was my problem. I love cheese and yogurt and had to stop. I can have some every now and then now without problems. You could try eliminating dairy for a week or two and see if it helps. It never hurts to ask your doctor, there are no stupid questions and its better safe than sorry. Carbs will often have the same repercussions for me.

I became lactose intolerant shortly after my RNY but it seemed to only be when I drank milk.  Yogurt and cheese were fine.  I found I could drink milk if I took a Lactaid right before pouring my glass of milk.  Now I am finding I can drink a little (maybe one glass) of milk without most of the symptoms that I had for the first two years.

I became lactose intolerant immediately following surgery as well.  I can tolerate heavy cream and hard cheese, both of which are technically fats.  I sent you a private message.

I became latose intolerant after surgery. I found out when I started mixing my protein in milk. I did this for a week, and then I became so sickly it was terrible! It took a while to make the connection that it was the breakfast protein shake. I can still eat yogurt and cheese. I just stay away from milk and went back to mixing my protein with water.

I am now lactose intolerant.  I was fine for several month out of RNY, but then I ended up not eating for several month (through complications with a PICC line adn feeding tube).  Mu surgeon did a "revision" (rebuilt the Y to open it up more) and since then I have been lactose intolerant.  If I drink milk I get lots of gurgles in my stomach, gas, and occasional diarrehea.  I do fine with yogurt, cheese, etc., but not straight up milk.
I am also a carb lover and when I allow my self to give into something really carby like a soft pretzel I bloat like no business.  (I actually look pregnant!) :-)  Changing to lactaid milk was an easy change, the only problem is when I am on vacation I struggle to find lactaid so I end up taking lots of lactaid supplement, but it doesn't work that well.
