I would like to know if anyone has travel rite after their sugery and if so, how soon?

I did speak to my surgeron and he said it's okay after 2weeks as long as i get up and walk during my flight.

my surgery is shuduled for May 24th and our annualy family vacation is booked for June 10

If your surgeon says it's OK, you should be fine. Get an aisle seat and walk whenever you can. I went to Italy for a week when I was five weeks out, and I had no problems.

Agreed..if dr approves..and you feel up to it...just walk frequently...people who havent had surgery recently get blood clots on road trips and flights..its fairly common...so we are at a greater risk after surgery if we dont keep circulation going. Its a must! :)

Good question. I had my surgery 5/3 and am going to denver for a week on 5/14. I plan on getting an aisle seat and also depending on how I feel, I just may ask for a wheelchair and assistance getting around. I'm not too proud lol. Especially if my connecting flight is on the other side of the airport!!

I had surgery out of state and flew back home after a little more then a week. If someone will lug your stuff for you- you shouldn't have any problems.

I traveled at 5 weeks post op (Just last week) and I was easily worn down and a bit uncomfortable sitting that long.  Also, I am used to flying, but with my first flight after surgery I got VERY dizzy.  The second-fourth was fine, but that first one made my head spin.

Also, please do yourself a favor and make sure someone is pulling and lifting your luggage.  I traveled for work on my own and it was hard to pull my luggage through the airport and lift it above my head.

Good luck on your trip and I really do hope you enjoy it.

Make sure you take your pain pills with you in the original bottle or a copy of your prescription.  Also, keep in mind you have to get your protein in and you are not able to take liquids over 3oz.  Also, that applies to liquid vitamins too.

Just a heads up.
