OT: Mother's Day Question: What did you get from Mom?

In honor of our Mommies, I thought it would be interesting to share some positive attributes (either physical or personality) and negative attributes you credit to your Mother. I know there are things that are just inherent to who we are, but there are other things that have definitely come directly from our folks. So how far, or close, did the apple fall from the tree?

For me, a few of my positive attributes would be my sense of humor,  my nurturing and caring nature, my lips, and my butt (momma had some junk in the trunk!). The negative would be a tendency to quit things that are hard, my addictive personality, varicose veins and bunions! Gee, thanks Ma! :-)

My mom is in heaven, but because of these attributes, both negative and positive, she is and always will be with me. I love you and miss you Mom!

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there!!

Denise

My mother is a saint! I love her dearly.

Let's see...positives:
I got her compassion, nurturing manner, selflessness, very giving, cooking ability (which is awesome BTW!), looks, and old fashioned values.

Negatives:
Arthritis, mental illness, bad heart, weight, varicose veins, hypoglycemia, osteoporosis, a TON of allergies, terrible memory, and too many others to count.

I used to joke that I got all of the left over junk after my sisters were born. No good genes left in the pot. However, the good definitely outweigh the bad. I am truly proud to call her my mother every day. I believe the world needs more people like her.

Love you mom!!!!

"I used to joke thatI got all of the left over junk..."

LMAO at that!! I always said mom decided to share all her medical problems with me and wondered why she didn't give me her propensity to be thin!

Have a great weekend!

I adore my Mommy.  She is my best friend.  She has given me independence and the knowledge that I don't need a man to survive this world.  The confidence to do everything I want in life.  The gift of acknowledging mistakes, shaking them off and moving forward.  She has given me the gift of finding humor in the most dire cir****tances. A lot of people think we look a like so she must have given me her best genes because I sure as hell don't look like my stinking father (no, I don't like him).

I love and adore you Mom, I always will!!  You are my strength and peace and I'm very, very proud of you and what you have accomplished in your life.

Amen sister!! I love hearing all of the adoration for Moms. It is the hardest, most rewarding job ever and Moms surely don't get enough credit when the kids are young!

So glad you were blessed with an awesome Mommy!

i have her lips and her chin apparently, as well as her body shape which is an hour glass figure (or will be when i'm closer to goal!). i'm also completely not judgmental like she was, very accepting and open to those around me but honestly, i really only know what i'm told by my family since she died when i was young so while i remember some things, there are a lot i don't. as far as the bad attributes, i think i may be as stubborn as she was!

My Mom is my best friend.  I wish she lived closer, but sometimes we are too much alike to get alone 100% of the time.

Positives: Her "take no crap" attitude, her eyes, my hourglass (currently a day glass) figure,  sense of humor, eclectic taste in music, clothes and just about everything else,a love for nature and a few of her hippie tendencies rubbed of on me lol

Negatives: Weight problems, diabetes, my addictive personality, oily skin, thyroid problems, mental illness issues, scoliosis and fibromyalgia

We always joke that I got screwed both ways as far as health goes.  My father's side of the family has a ton of health issues too.  I always loathe giving my family history at doctor's appointments.

I love my mommy though.  We may not always get along but we will always love each other.

My mom and I have just an easy relationship - I wouldn't call her my best friend, but I would beat the daylights out of anyone who messed with her.
Positives:  sense of humor, stubborness (yes, I count that as a positive), looking out for others

Negatives:  weight problems and pessimism (and stubborness lol)

My mother has also crossed over, but the positives she left me with were:  sense of humor, how to behave like a lady, good manners, compassion, cleanliness, love of animals, honesty, my height, my good genes.

Negatives attributes would be:  Ability to be *****y.  Insecurity.  Lack of confidence.  Also the tendency to quit the hard stuff...

My mother was not the greatest mom in the world, but I believe she did her best within her reality, so I forgive her her faults and shall always love her for the good stuff.

Happy Mother's day mom!!!
