OT: Horrible hemorrhoids: How long does this pain last?

So I've been battling terrible diarrhea for over a week now. Last night during one of my many runs (pun intended) to the bathroom, I realized something was awry in my nether regions. The pain from these hemorrhoids is unbelievable! Went to the ER today and was given Anusol suppositories and told to do sitz baths. I'd read people get them lanced and I was actually praying for that for some relief. Can't sit, standing causes horrible pressure and lying down isn't much better.

Please tell me thus will be over soon. Any other suggestions? I'm about to make suppository shaped ice cubes!!! HELP!!!

I have been there. I just got over about a month of the same problem, then I got a fissure to boot! I ended up going to a specialist that prescribed me Lidocaine, an ointment that numbed the entire area. And I got Calmoseptine, an over the counter skin ointment that cools the area. I have anusol as well. I was told to use them before "going" and after. I also got some witch hazel wipes to clean up with. It was not a fun month, but finally I got better. The worst was driving for me. I got a plastic corrugated sign to sit on in my car. Dpn't use a donut pillow. The specialist said they are the worst thing for it. Good luck. I need to call my doc for some Lidocaine. Got the witch hazel wipes. Fissures are a nightmare! Got one of those after I had my daughter. OMG! Driving is actually my most comfortable spot. I'm about to go sit in my damn car!

I wish I had some advice. I just wanted to let you know you have my sympathies. As bad as the hemorrhoids were the fissure was 10x worse. I had hemorrhoid surgery many years ago and while the recovery was the worst pain in the world it was worth it because I haven't had a problem with them since, only the fissure. When I was pregnant they thrombosed and had to be lanced. I guess your doctor didn't think there was a thrombosis or he would have lanced it.

I actually told the ER doc I thought it was thrombosed, but she said it wasn't. Could have fooled me. Hopefully just taking it easy will bring about some relief here soon.

been there done that, and dont want to do it again..but mine was a MAJOR bout of constipation....i got from my dr a RX for "proctozone-HC 2.5%" cream..its basicaly RX form of prep H maybe a littel stronger...anyhow i was told to use it just every 12 hours or so....i had my coat, and i do mean coat the roids, very, very good, then i tucked a tucks pad or 2 around them and went to bed.....i had major improvment by the next morning....i wasl also told to use the supporsitories, but i was so constipated, that there was no way anything was going in the wrong way...i had taken a 1/2 dose of miralax, and it worked fine.. i finally gave birth in the bathroom with some instant releif....but try that and you will notice a difference in your hemroids...they are awful thats for sure..
get some releif...

I CAN NOT even imagine trying to pass a hard stool through this mess. I pity you! I will definitely try your little slather and wrap system...certainly can't hurt!

How long before the proctozone-hc 2.5 took to work. I'm having a problem now with the hemorrhoids right now I am in so much pain and to top it all off I've been sick with a catheter in. My doctor gave me gavilax for constipation and just gave me protozone. I want it to go away already I'm in so much pain

I'm suffering with hemorrhoids really bad rt now. What did u mean when u say u used coat and roids and felt much better the next morning. I really need HELP!!!! I'm suffering soo bad!!! ????

I assume I am allowed to write you here so long as it is for medicinal purposes

.. My wife had the hemorrhoid problem you now have, when she was pregnant with our oldest. She got relief by my popping them back in where they belonged. Now if that is not the epidemy of trust on her part, and love on mine, nothing is. Hope that helps, if not, give it time...
