the honeymoon is over.....
well, my lucky run of not getting sick ended this afternoon........shrimp was the "culprit". I had eaten some yesterday and didn't get sickso I thought I was golden...two shrimp later and oh gosh! I have NEVER been so sick!!!!! I actually broke all the capillaries in my face and now I have red dots all over my face! Ack!!!! does this happen to anyone else? Ihave to say, there was some red blood in my vomit too. I truly sympathize with those of you who have had to deal with this daily.....because it truly is a rough experience.
I just got off the phone with the surgeons office...spoke with the NP....she doesn't think it's anything to worry about, but does find it strange that I have the petechiae on my face.......ran over signs and symptoms of gastric bleeding etc. and said surgeon would call me in the am if he is concerned at all.....now I'm afraid to eat ANYTHING b/c I don't want to vomit again.....
I get petechiae when I vomit as well. I will also easily get busted capillaries in my eyes as well if it's violent enough. I haven't vomitted since surgery, but the one time I've ever vomitted blood they said since it was red it was fresh blood. Since it was fresh blood that meant that something probably scratched my stomach or esophagus on the way up.
Good thing you called your surgeon though. I would of freaked out.

Go back to liquids for 24 hours. Whenever I get food stuck, vomit or have dumping - I go back to protein shakes and protein hot drinks with other liquid for 24 hours. My pouch stays "grouchy" for a day or two.
I wouldn't have been able to eat shrimp for several months out. I was on liquid for one month, then puree for month two and still not able to eat solid food at 3 months out. I had to "ease" into solid food. My pouch was really "touchy' and still is.
I still dump, can get food stuck (especially any meat except ground meat, dense veggies like raw carrots, celery, radish, kohlrabi, etc.) I have to have small bites, chew really well and eat slow over about 30 minutes - or I get dry heaves, nausea and feel horrible.
Go slow. Take your time. You have years to experiment with your new pouch - no rush. Food isn't going away anytime soon - it will be there later.
Best wishes.
