Pissed off and wasted.......

Ok, so some of you saw i had a great protein rich shake at the gym yesterday.  Well, as luck would have it that **** was full of sugar.  Luckily I am not of the dumping persuasion.  LOL.  I was so stoked i was ready to order the freaking machine and all thosed damned flavored mixers and all.  Anywho, once I realized it was too full of sugar I decided i would attempt once again to make my own fruity sensational protein rich beverage AT HOME.
Fast forward to 0800 this morning.
You know Wally world has this great berry blend in the freezer sections.  Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries.  No sugar. Sooooooooo, I whipo them up in the blender, about a cup or so, with  a couple Splendas.  It was devine.  Then I added some ice, and the final destination, oops I mean final ingredient, F@#$%^g protein powder.  It looked lovely.  It tasted like ASS.  I was so PISSED OFF.
sOOOOOOO, I try adding a little Pink Lemonade CL to it.  Then it tasted like Horse ASS.  I was sooooooooooo disgusted.

I am more upset because I know when I eat all my protein and drink all my water ai lose weight.  My scale has not moved in a week.  I am starting to really wonder if I should have taken a different route.  I don't know what route that would have been.  But damn,I feel like a failure on some level,  Yes I have lost 40 lbs in total, but I am afraid of what the future will hold for me.  I was told by a co worker who is 12 mos out that "you can eat anything you want that does not make you sick".  I am like she is crazy as helicopter if she thinks I would even chance eating more than just the cheese off a slice of pizza.  But some days I feel like I am so hungry I want a regular meal.  So I know i need protein so I drink my shakes.
Any way.I WASTED all those ingredients and made my regular Hazelnut Cappacino-like Protein rich shake and it is in the fridge waiting for the foam to go down.  I made a 12 oz one today so it has 42g protein.  Thats half of what I need today.  I will try to get a 6 oz one down later as a SNACK.  Yea for me.  UGH!!!!!!!!

Well I hope you find something soon that tastes nice...not to make you even madder but your body will only absorb 30 grams of protein at one time according to ym NUT so you maybe have to reduce the 42 one a lil so you are not wasting all the protein for nothing, I like my protein powder it is biody fortress from walmart and its not bad and is 24 protein and 2 grams sugar..hope you day gets better

I am three years out next week. I endured the protein shake phase of my recovery for about the first year, then switched to ISOPURE, which is a zero carb drink with 40 grams of protein. They are a bit expensive but to me better than the hassle of making protein powder drinks; I can't be lugging my blender to work, so the ISOPURE is convenient.

Now, I don't always need the ISOPURE because I get my protein from my diet (yogurt, eggs, and chicken or beef) throughout the day. I just did some labs and my protein levels are fine.

Best wishes.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I feel your pain, I decided this morning not to choke down my traditional "first thing protein drink".  Blech.  I just can't stand it anymore.  You did inspire me to try a bit of fruit in a vanilla powder.  I have been kind of stuck on chocolate.

My surgeon does not want you to rely on protein drinks for the rest of your life.  He would rather me get my protein from food once everything is healed and good to go.  Shakes in his opinion are just for emergencies.

Maybe try a nice egg white omelet for breakfast?

That is part of the problem. I hate eggs and cottage cheese. If i could find a protein rich bread, maybe i could have a grilled cheese sammy. hmmmm, my quest begins

TA DA -- high protein bread.  Dense, one slice is more than enough, but good.

BTW - I eat pizza occasionally, crust & all.

I hated all shakes, tried so many brands then last week I tried skim milk, vanilla unjury, frozen strawberries/blueberries and one pack of Truvia.. it's actually good enough to choke down on my way to work!  I also eat a ton of beef jerky, I'm going to get a dehydrator so I can make it with less salt!

That was another thing i want to add, but i am very hypertensive and i am afraid of the sodium content, but since I eat so little of anything else I may be able to get away with it. thanks for the reminder.

What flavor was the protein powder you used?

Your post makes me want to hurry up and finish this DAMN protein shake book. It teaches people how to invent new shakes without having the experience you just had
