Question about internal staples.

Sorry if this is a silly question.

I was watching a program aobut airports and security and metal detectors. Will the titanium staples set off the detectors??

Like we need one more reason to get mauled at the airport.

Most internal staples are made from primarily titanium and should not be a problem with metal detectors or when having an MRI. Some are now made disolvable so of course these would not be a concern. The only ones made of surgical steel that I know of are older staples and some external skin staples/clips.

I asked that specific questin to my surgeon and he said the alarms wouldn't go off. I've since been through airport security five times with no problems!   Unless newer technology later comes out that detects it, I think we're good!

Thank you! I'm glad to know I don't need to worry about it.

titanium staples will not set them off. External staples may--but you're unlikely to be flying less than a week post-op Now my uncle has a metal plate in his pelvis after shattering his--THAT will set it off--he has a "prescription" from his Dr. to show to security
