Loss of appetite. Not "eh, don't feel like eating now" but a serious loss of appetitte is #1.

Mine was 91 in April, 141 in Nov, 161 in April. I didn't change a thing. REluctantly I changed the dose. I know I'll pay by dropping to 70 or someething. Somewould say I'm getting more sun exposure being across the south, but then, we know that sun is myth, might change your D 1,25 but not the D on board in tissue and such.

So....... but wait! I can test my OWN vit D to see how I'm going, can't I?

I can't say a serious loss of appetite would be my problem.  After my gastric bypass, I was never hungry and never got my hunger back but after having my 4 surgeries the past 6 months, I actually do get hungry now but if I eat too much, I get severe abdominal pains and feel like my incision is going to pop open, so I really have to eat small amounts.  This is really tough because I am trying to gain weight back that I lost.  In the 6 months, I lost 45 pounds - 15-25 pounds that I didnt' need to lose.  I never thought I would have trouble gaining weight.

I have one more question about the vitamin D.  When I had my levels drawn, my Endo did both D25hydroxy and D1-25hydroxy.  The levels varied drastically.  The first draw - the D25 hydroxy was greater than 150 and the D1-25hydroxy was only 38.  Then after going off the 50,000 units of Dry D3 for 10 days (was supposed to be 1 week but by time I got there for the blood test it was 10 days), the D 25 hydroxy was down to 112 and the D1-25hydroxy was up to 55. What is the difference and why did one go down and the other go up when I went off the vitamin D?  I don't understand.  I always thought the 1-25 had to do with what you have in your system at the present time but if I didn't take any for 10 days, my level shouldnt' have gone down and it shouldn't have been so low when I was taking it?

I Hope to get my new levels next week.

D 25 is the more accurate of what is actually ON BOARD, like in your tissue (112 is just GORGEOUS!). D 1,25 can be invisible or off the charts even in 24 hrs. Did you wear blue to the lab or red? It's very momentary.

You can watch the 1,25 move around (as long as you're not paying for it!) but your response will be to the D 25.

Dec 31, when I refused to pay inventory tax on the last of my vit D test kits, I bought them and my staff got vit D tests for Xmas. I know. Only MY staff would get a bloodletting for xmas. LOL

It came back with all the levels. Very interesting reading. Even though they hear me say 400 times/day that everyone is D-def, they didn't believe it til they saw the numbers with their own eyes.

I have 3 under 25 y/o. I was one test short, and she was happy to ***** everyone's finger, but didn't test her own. So, the 22 y/o tested at 19 (she is meaty). The 21 y/o guy, very slender, tested at 25. My off mgr at age 40, with some meat, ok, lots of meat, tested also at 22 or so. The oldest one, from Guam, tested at 32 (Asian, older, shoulda tested lower)and my son (38), as Irish as I am, tested at 35.

The point being that no one tested well. My son had been humoring me by taking a few 5k's per week. When I handed them the bottle of 5's, I told him and his wife 2 per day, and 3 per week for the 7 y/o.

She heard rumors about toxicity, so was afraid of it. H e took some. Now that he's work there a bit and sees the fast fwd of low D (fractures, lost teeth), he suddenly takes his! LOL

You would not "feel" high levels until it hits well over 700. And toxic means poison and water soluble D3 cannot go toxic. High, yes, but not poisonous.

Hard to remember that but the books are all written about the original fat soluble versions, which can build in the liver. Water soluble do not store like that. That's why the therapeutic thinking is XX IU for XX weeks, then it stores and you're done.

But for us, we don't even absorb it, let alone store. We treat the low D forever and ever. Amen.

I am a weird person... Not only is my vitamin B12 amounts well over 1900 but my Vitamin D3 is 128!

Beginning to wonder if I either have the absorbtion of Superwoman or else my surgeon maybe only took a teeny, tiny bit of intestine out....(I probably just have the genetic absorbtion of Mighty Absorber!)

Yes, I do religiously take 2 centrum silver, B12 weekly (sublingual only 2000 mc) and 1 injection monthly.

I take 10,000 iu of Vitalady Tender Dry 3 and of course my calcium citrate, etc.

Sadly my liver values are shot to crap.

Warmly,
Jackie

So, that is your D 25, not D 1,25?

And, what are we doing re: the liver?
