For the past month I wake up in the mornings with a dry mouth and let me tell you there is no moisture at all.  Before I get out of bed I try to make some saliva and get very little, so off to the refrig for some water.

I do have sleep apnea and wear a cpap but this has never happened before surgery.

I do drink over 64 oz of water daily.

Anyone experience this and might know what is going on.

I often wake up with dry mouth so bad my mouth is sometimes glued shut.  No cpap or sleep apnea.  I keep 20oz water bottle by my bed and drink it overnight and still have the problem. I drink around 100-120 oz per day.  No idea what the cuase is, but it sure is annoying.

For about the first 6-8 months post op I slept with a glass of water next to my bed because I would wake up several times a night dying of thirst.  I'm almost 3 years out now and haven't had that problem in a while.

i have a jug that i got from 7-11, i take it every where i go, i fill it with ice and then water, i take it to bed at night also, i did this way before pre op, and just have continued to do so...at one time i had the 64 oz jug, but it was a bit heavy to carry, so now i have the 48 oz jug, my daughter just got me another 64 oz jug so i will use that at home, and my hubby got me a 32 oz one that fits in a soda holder, so that one will be my travel mug of water...
i dont drink anything bu****er all day long, no tea,, no crystal light stuff...no flavored water, just plain ole ice water, when i get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, i just take a swig of water on the way there and on the way back to bed...and yes, i still have a dry mouth sometimes...but i keep water close by at all times so that helps alot
have a great day

If you are waking up with a dry mouth you are probably dehydrated.  Drink more water.

YES!!!!! my mouth is sooo dry 24-7 that i count down the minutes after a "meal" until i can have something to drink, and then i get all excited like a little kid. the nurse at my surgeon's office told me to try SF popsicles and they really help, for a while. it keeps the moisture in my mouth for a lot longer than itty bitty sips of water. i tried chewing ice but i accidentally took in too much and got nauseous. the popsicles seem to help, though.

trust me, you're not the only one.
