Five months post-op and two month stall
Dr. Robert did my surgery and I know they recommend all protein from food. But from all of the reading I have done those that are most successful long term, meaning years, seem to incorporate 2 -3 shakes a day. It seems to help the body to feel more satiated for longer and not want to overeat at meals or reach for CARBS as snacks. I also read that one of your snacks is SF pudding. Have you tried mixing some unflavored protein in it. This is an individual journey for each of us and because there are so many different plans from different doctors, we just have to find what works for us with the help of those who have been at this longer than we have. We have great doctors, but I am amazed at how many people don't seem to. They come away from surgery without much guidance or a real plan from their doctors.
Hi Carol,
The SF pudding was from other person's post. I don't eat SF pudding or any type of sweets in any form. I want to lose this weight. I have spoken to Maddie a couple of times about my food intake, carbs, protein, etc. She tells me the same thing every time about eating my protein first, eating vegetables, eating fruit, etc, etc. She also told me to eat 80 to 90 grams of protein and when I told her that Dr. Garth told me I should get in about 40, she just said "he's on a health kick" so they tell me something totally different which is confusing but I know most people on OH are eating way more than 40 so I do eat 70 to 80. He also said no more shakes a while ago so I stopped. Even though the shakes are protein shakes, I still get hungry. They're not like eating something substantial...just milk and whey protein...how to get that full feeling from milk? I did it for my two weeks post op. Guess I need to do it again....
