pain on the right side
Hi All,
I have this pain which is on the right side under my ribs (pretty much directly under my breast), it almost feels like a cramp that comes and goes. I have noticed it after I eat but not everytime so I'm not really sure if that has anything to do with it and I haven't noticed it when I exercise. Of course whenever I see the doctor it doesn't happen and I forget to mention it... anyway I was hoping someone experienced something similiar and could let me know what it is.
Thanks!
Sue

It could be your gallbladder. Have you had an ultrasound and/or a hidascan? Watch your food intake and write down what you had so when the symptom arises you can see if certain foods trigger it. AND, yes certain fatty or acidic foods will trigger gallbladder problems even if they don't find stones in your test. You may have sludge which is more difficult to see from testing.

I had the exact same thing a couple weeks after surgery and my doc thought it was pleurisy. The pain went thru to my back and up to my shoulder and was very painful at times. My doc finally did a gallbladder ultrasound and it showed a very large gallstone. I'm scheduled for surgery the end of June. Hope you can get an answer soon.
It may or may not be your gall bladder. I know that so many automatically make that assumption when people have right side pain, but if you are experiencing back pain (flank pain) as well, it might be a kidney stone. It can cause that sort of pain as well. I have one and it acts up sometimes...even after I eat. I would have both checked out. You can never be too safe. I only say that because I don't have a gall bladder, but had the same sort of pain. Part of mine was also an ulcer. We are really succeptable to a myriad of things after this surgery.
Hope you feel better soon!
