Totally OT..poor puppy got attacked
My little Lucy..the min pin got attacked by something in our backyard last night. She spent all day at the vet (ca...ching!) and has sutures and drains. She looks so pitiful. You would think I live in the country side but I live in the middle of the city.
She has drugs and is going to be okay..but I'm sad for the little girl.

I'm so sorry Deb, sounds like whatever it was really was not pleased to see Lucy. I wonder if she startled a raccoon, they can be really viscious if cornered. I lived near "downtown" Federal Way for many years and we had raccoons and skunks pass through the yard occasionally. the dog got sprayed once...I like to never got that smell off him, lolol. My prayers are with Lucy for a good recovery and with you as well. It hurts to see them hurt.

I live in Kirkland and we've been having a bad coyote problem. You wouldn't think that'd matter much with a dog in the backyard but I've actually SEEN coyotes jump/climb over my 8 foot wood fence to get at residue on our grill. Heck, there have been black bears spotted in between here and Redmond and one that was shot in downtown Lynwood just today. Seems the wild life is taking back over!
I hope she recovers well. :( It really is rough to see your pets hurting.

I've been hearing about the bear problem there Amber. That would scare the livin' daylights (aka the crap, lol) right out of me just knowing they are around. Three years ago I moved to Oregon from Federal way...the only unusual things I've seen here are beavers, nutria and turkey buzzards. We do have the usual raccoons, feral cats and odd neighbors, but of those, the odd neighbors are probably the scariest, lol. I'd be freaked if a coyote came over my fence.

The bears do scare me quite a bit because there's a big patch of wild forest near my house. The coyotes not so much. I spent a lot of time in wild animal rescue and even fostered four wolf pups once (I say fostered but it took them two years to move them from my house). So, it was more of a, "Huh...there's a coyote in our back yard...good thing our cats live indoors" moment.
Sorry to hear that.
One of my cats was bitten by something, we think a racoon, about a week ago. She spent four or five days at the vet. The vet told us he was giving us a big discount on the bill, and it was nearly $500. I'd hate to see what it would have been without the discount!
Hope Lucy feels better soon.

Yep, she seems real good now. Other than still sleeping just a bit more than usual, she seems normal. She's not limping at all anymore and is eating normally.

I hope Lucy gets better soon. It is hard to see our pets in pain.
My little JJ stopped eating and I was scared to death he was near the end. He is 11 and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure a year ago. The vet said he had about a year to live so I had reason to worry.
So I took him to the vet worried that he was going to tell me it was time to let him go. The vet checked him out and told me he was constipated. Last thing I expected. Apparently he hurt his back and that made it difficult for him to arch his back to go. He got an enema and is good as new. Who would have thought? I told him I understand exactly how he feels.
The best part was the vet checked his heart and he said it was a lot better. He hasn't even been coughing and he was coughing constantly before. I am hopeful to have him many years to come.
