Losing Too Much Weight Pre-Op????

Someone just told me that if I lose too much weight pre-op, they won't do the surgery. Is this true?! I've lost 11 lbs, but I don't think that's "too much." My BMI is still 45.5.

I have not heard that, I lost 25lbs before surgery.  I would check with your doctor to confirm.

Hi There, I was worried about that myself. I lost 20 lbs before surgery and I was already  considered a light weight But I had 3 co-morbid conditions. On my day of surgery my weight was 213 do to the 20lbs already lost. So I am sure you will be fine.
Good Luck, Lisa

Most surgeons submit your starting weight to insurance for approval. Losing shouldn't cause any problems.

I was told not to lose too much before I go to the surgeon. If I do wear heavy clothes as not to make my BMI go down to much. Once I start the 2 week pre-op diet I'm good to go.
