UGH!!!! I am about to pull out my hair - does not seem that I will have to worry about losing it from rapid weight loss.  You guys that hae lost 100# or more in like 9 months or so - did you go thru this?? Seems hard to believe that I will ever reach my goal ever at this point.  I know in reading the post that this stall is normal and my body is adjusting - but wow how long does it tak to "adjust". I am doing all that I am suppose to work out 3 - 5 days a week. Not sure what else I can do to get over this hump.
Thanks  for letting me vent!!
What a journey...I will make it!!!

I too felt the same way.  I would stall for a few weeks then boom drop 5-7 pounds.  It is easy for me to say relax it will happen now......back then I was in your shoes too.  Good luck with your journey.

Kelly, my RNY was 4 days before you. I hit a stall at 2 weeks out that lasted 3 weeks. Since my stall broke 2 weeks ago I have lost another 20 pounds. Hang in there. Your stall will break soon. Just keep following your doctor's plan.

Just roll with it and stay the course is the best advice that I can give you.  I'm in yet another stall right now and at 10 months out worried about getting to goal all while seeing others around me that had surgery at the same time that are at goal...so I had to shut that out...I was a "comparer" like most of its, it is human nature to compare; but it is also self-destructive.  So I had to realize that my body is unique and it is going to manage this process how it sees fit.  I have stalled and stalled and stalled again and look where I am!!! 107 pounds down in 9 3/4 months.  So though it may wear on you come to terms with stalls being part of the process.  I assure you the weight loss will start up again.  It will.  Take notice of your patterns.  For me, I don't lose a week before ovulating and a week and a 1/2 after.  I now stay off the scale during this time to avoid self-sabatoge--I have tendancy toward that.  So it helps to stay off the scale and just keep doing the right things, after all this is a new lifestyle and you can't let the scale determine your eating, otherwise you on a very dangerous path!!
Deep breath!  You will start losing again.  I promise.

I know it's so frustrating, I hate it.. but I'm not quite 3 months yet .. I've stalled 4 times already but I'm still down over 70 pounds... I have these long stalls then I drop tons of weight in a week.. it will happen, try to chill (I'm saying this to myself as well! LOL)

Unfortunately, stalls happen! I stalled for 5 weeks but I've lost almost a pound a day since then. Just chill, it'll come. Just do NOT allow your frustration to lead you to not following your plan. I did that some and realized what a slippery slope that can be.

Good luck and take care!

I lost ONE pound in week 2

I lost ZERO pounds in week 3
I lost ZERO pounds in week 4
I lost ZERO pounds in week 5
I lost ZERO pounds in week 6
I lost ZERO pounds in week 7
I lost ZERO pounds in week 8

By the end of my second month.... I was down a total of 33 pounds.

I firmly believe that the first two to three months are going to always be weird for people. Then their body sets up a rhythm and sticks with it.

I gained weight every fourth week
I didn't lose weight the week before I gained

It's normal.

Do what you are supposed to, the rest will happen on its own.

~Lady Lithia~ 200 lbs lost!

When I was stalled, I went back and looked at your posts where you tell about your cycle of loss.  It REALLY helped me keep my head up.  Thank you for posting this!!

Yes i am almost 7 month out. Had RNY on 11/17 I lost 121 lbs so far. I have stalled 4 times.
the first one was about 2.5 months for 2 weeks. but the one I am in now sucks. 3 weeks and i weigh the exact same weigh and i am getting PISSED off. i eat right, exercise drink water take my vitamins etc. i know it goes with this. It is just frustrating. On a brighter note my hair is not falling out in handfuls any more. one a few now and then. Dont give up it iwll get better.
I still want to lose at least 90 more lbs. I am not trying to be a 140 lbs. I have realistic goels and if i can get to 200 i will be happy. I hav enot seen 200 over 20 years. so dont give up even though sometimes you want to cry and say wth is this worth it?  Yeah it is.

RNY Nov 17, 2011

Kelly..I had a revision one day after you and I am in a 10 day stall right now..just trying not to let the scale take over my life!  I know that I am doing everything I can and the weight will come off...so try to stay off the scale for now and just work on getting in your protein and liquids...give us an update in a week...
Ciao,
Shar
