Day #9
Well... It's been 9 days... and still no BM!!! My stomach feels bloated, but there is NO urge what so ever!!!!
Before everyone starts.... I do have bowel issues to begin with, however, this is the longest I have ever gone. Also, I have tried using Benefiber all that does is give me constant gas. I have incorporated fruits and veggies (mostly green beans) to no avail. These were all the suggestions from the Doc.
I do occassionally use Milk of Mag and that usually works after a couple days of using, however, Doc doesn't want me using that saying my body will eventually only be able to go with using MOM.
So now I am here looking for any other options???
Please help!
Thanks in advance! Jamie

Jamie,
I feel your pain. The only relief I have found is getting on Miralax and taking it EVERY day. About a week ago, I thought I was cured and regular, so dumb me stopped taking it. Stopped up again. LOL Benefiber hurt my stomach too bad and I gagged at MOM. Miralax has been gentle and there is no taste at all.

Anyone, RNY or not who is on a high protein, very low fat diet will have constipation issues. Perfect examples are South Beath and Atkins.
The only way to "help", is kick up your fiber intake and that may help some. Soluble Fiber is great because does its work in the intestines, where it needs to.
Any normal person should eat at least 30g of fiber a day... If you want to get down and dirty, eat 1/2 cup of Fiber One with nonfat milk in the morn and 1/2 cup of Fiber One as an evening snack. That will get you 30g of fiber right there.
I know you said that Benefiber gives you gas, however you can add Benefiber to anything you cook or drink... since its tasteless, odorless and non-thickening, you wont know its there... but be aware that Benefiber is only 3g of fiber a serving. Maybe you can try to ingest it another way?
I am not knocking anyone's advise, but be careful of taking "products" to go potty. Your body can become dependent on them even though they may claim that they are non-habit forming.
I generally get over 30g of fiber a day... just because.
