Home from hospital!!

Yesterday, I had my RNY @ 1:30ish and am actually already home. Everything went wonderful. I had never had general before so I was really nervous. The surgery ended up taking about 2 1/2 hours b/c he repaired a hiatial hernia also (that I never knew I had). I got to my room about 7 and was eating a sugar free Popsicle by 8 and walking by 9. I walked a lot during the night. I really have to say that my c-sections were a lot more painful. I had my GI swallow around 10 and was discharged about 2pm.

I am really impressed with how smooth everything went. All of the staff were amazing. Dh stayed with me and was a great help. It is great to be home.

Wow, thats awesome! Yay for being in your own bed! Good to know about C sections, I've had 3 and those were easy for me, hope this is the same on Tuesday.

Yeh Shelley.............nice to see you!! I am 10 days out your recovery sounds a lot like mine..........you'll do great!! Once I got home I found I didn't need hardly any meds. Started walking for an hour each day...........down 8 lbs. in a week since I've been home!! Hardest part...........liquid diet. 3 more days and I get semi-soft foods!!! Can't wait..........anyways...........welcome home!! -Holly

Wow, I am happy to hear everything went great for you. I am having my surgery on Tuesday and hearing this makes me a little less nervous. However, I think I am supposed to be in the hospital 2 to 3 days. I guess all doctors are different. Good luck to you!

Yeah, so glad everything went smooth, and that you are doing well. I to am having my hiatial hernia repaird too. Nice to know about the c-section because mine wasn't to bad. My surgery is on Wed 6/29/2011 Wish me luck, and remember, take is easy.

Welcome to the loser's bench.

I agree my c-section was worse. Remember though you did have major surgery and although you feel fine please don't push yourself. Keep walking and sipping.
