Just be sure to keep an eye on your labs.  I am almost 3 years out, have been religious with getting a minimum of 2 protein drinks in a day and eating protein first ALL the time, and my protein is on the low side.  We're our own best advocates.  I always have the lab send me a copy of my labs and I track them on a spreadsheet so I can see the trends.  I know everyone may handle protein different, so you very well may continue to do well with your plan.

Thanks, Jody!  I'm only 3 months out and I'll have my first post-op lab work done this week when I see the surgeon.  Nearly 2 months of my post op life, I was eating protein only from food.  We'll see.  All I can say is I've tried really hard to follow the NUT's instructions.  We'll see!

I am almost 2 years out and have a shake for breakfast every day. It is easy, jump starts my protein for the day, mandate assures I will hit my target of at least 65 gm.

I do the shakes to supplement.  I don't eat enough to get it in thru food.

I just recently started having 1 click a day but before that I got my protein exclusively from food since surgery because I can't stand most shakes.  It takes planning but you CAN get all of your protein from food.. I had 111 grams of protein and 800 calories the other day.. bascially I eat all protein very little of anything else.  a lot of fish/shrimp/beef jerky.. if I do eat something that doesn't have any or very little protein I will add flavorless protein powder to it.. like pudding ect.  It can be done, good luck.

Most day I have to have protein shake or 2 per day.  at 3 years post op - I need a lot proteins to make sure my blood work show mid normal level.

Even though I can eat more - there is no way I could get all my proteins from food.
