I had my surgery in January, and as of last week I've lost 70lbs, sure it's not the fastest loss compared to some, but I'm satisfied so far. I am not going to starve myself with the RnY because I feel that when I reach maintenance I won't have learned how to eat healthy and well, and the rapid weight loss honeymoon will wind up being just another diet, and I didn't have my guts rearranged for that.
Everyone is different, and the results will be too. it's too soon too tell long term, but I plan my meals daily and track. I have a protein goal and stay low carb drink my fluid, jump and take my vites. I don't feel deprived at all, and I'm only eating between 760 to 960 calories a day now. That's actually allot of food if you plan well. I have had two stalls, one for four weeks! then BOOM the weight comes off fast in cycles. be patient and follow your plan. That's what I'm doing and hoping for the best. Good luck :)

I know I am a slow loser compared to the people that went in for surgery at the same time I did. Those ladies have dropped several more sizes than I have in the same amount of time. But they are probably sticking to their plan better than I am.
I crave sugar and went a little sugar crazy when I realized I could drink slurpees and eat candy without dumping. Usually my body is pretty good at telling me what to stay away from. I can't eat baked goods. The mere thought of a cake or cookie makes me shudder in horror because I will never forget how it made me feel when I ate the last one. But fruit juice, slurpees, koolaid, sweet tea... no problem!!
I do work out pretty vigorously now and in the beginning, but for the months of May-June I basically took a vacation from my weight loss plan and I have been stuck at 185 since then. I got back on track this week and I've already lost one lb. in 2 days. I'm hoping I learned my lesson (please lord let me have learned my lesson!!!). I really hope to be on track by mid July and be in the 170s!

For the most part everyone is about the same, some lose a lot faster while others lose a little less. When I was 6 months out, I was down 100lbs. From what I read, your losing the weight at a phenomonal rate. Congrats on your continued success, I think before long you are gonna reach your goal weight or be below that.

I would like to add something. I have paid particular attention to these kind of posts. And it is usually followed by a dozen people commenting that they too are slow losers. Is it possible that "slow losers" are really the norm? And that some times we get a warped vision of how things should be by those few who post how fast they have lost their weight? At the end of the day as long as you are following your plan you will lose the weight at the pace set by your body. Congrats on losing 62 pounds in less than 5 months. To me that is amazing! Good job!
Hi,
I had my surgery on 4/20 and was 238 when I left the hospital. My current weight is 195-ish. My loss is 45 lbs. My progress is seen as quick, so I think yours must be too. I know, at times it feels too slow!
One woman, in a support group I attended last month, had surgery on the same day as me and had not lost ANY weight. She was going to the gym 5 days/week. Many people do not have much weight loss for the first 6 weeks. We are lucky. The excess weight sould take about 6 months to come off, for our size. We are ahead of the game, but I do know that the closer to goal, the slower the loss.
See you on the loser's bench!

Thanks everyone... I guess I know what you all are saying is true but sometimes it's hard to see other post with people losing 50 pounds in 6 weeks... lol... My clothes are definitely telling me that its coming off so I should bask in that joy for sure... I am happy with my loss... I will not whine anymore and just enjoy it no matter how long it takes me to get to my goal... Thanks again for the reassurance... I really needed it :)
