It's done!
Writing this from the comfort of my hospital bed, where I've been for a while now. As of around 10 this morning, my surgery is over! I can't believe it. My surgeon was and is amazing, and I feel really good even aside from the gas pain and some other general aches. I've been using the lung breather thingie as much as I can, and my oxygen levels have improved so much I don't even need the nose tube anymore.
Even better, I have already been on two walks! The first one was only about 15 feet, and it took a lot out of me, but the second one I went around the corner and all the way to the end of the hall and back! It's all getting easier by the minute, I ha e one more full day in the hospital, tomorrow they will check for leaks and then hopefully I can start sipping liquid- can't wait! I'm not hungry at all and they keep me very hydrated with the iv, but my throat is so dry, water will be a god send.
I was so worried, so anxious, and now I'm just flat out excited! I really feel like this is a fresh start and a new chance to fix my life.
Thanks for all the well wishes!
Edited to add that the nurse was just in here and checked my blood pressure and it's lower than it's been in years!
