calling on the veterans
I'm 27 months post RNY. I try for 1200 calories a day. I don't count my bariatric calcium citrate chews and maybe a couple whole wheat crackers or two a day - so probably get 100 or so extra in a day.
I've still been losing (since plastic surgery 6 weeks ago). I still stay away from white flour, white sugar, white rice, pasta, junk food and fast food.
If I need extra calories at the end of the day (or anytime) I always eat protein first - then a complex carb of some kind - veggie, fruit, whole grain, Peanut Butter, etc. No sweets or white flour products.
I'm trying to eat clean - organic, raw when I can, no processed, chemicals, etc.
Best wishes.

This thread is interesting, so many people do such different things.
I used Lora's and gbinsatx and came with 95 calories. I then used Lora's calculation to see what I should be eating to get back to my comfortable weight (gain)......wow, I really need to work on higher calories meals and snacks.

I am 6 years out.
Sometimes I FEEL I can eat like a "normal" person BUT I have trouble eating. I eat UP when I can, because next week, I may not be able to eat. Strange but true. Like a cycle.
I have no trouble maintaining my weight especially because I have cut the fat and the processed foods completely out of my diet. I just eat healthy and I don't worry about the calories. Once I feel full, usually after about a cup of food total, on a good food day..I do not go back to it, I'm finished.
After the full feeling, if I wait a few mins I COULD go back to it and eat more, but I will not do that.
On a good day,
For breakfast, I'll eat two boiled eggs. (Fried and Scrambled eggs make me Yak.) some turkey bacon and a slice of Rye toast. White toast makes me Yak. I may sometimes have a Carnation Instant breakfast made with raw milk.
Lunch I'll have some sharp chedder and some Rye toast or just snack.
Dinner is the biggie and I cook for my husband what ever he wants, but all organic. Usually a Beef, chicken or Lamb, tomatoe or herb/veggie stew type dish over basmatti rice (Rice makes me yak)
or Maybe boiled shrimp and salad. Grilled or baked chicken.
Grass fed Beef steak or wild caught fish steaks with salad or mixed veggies..
I snack on Yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, raw veggies, pumpkin, melon, sunflower seeds, and fruit as often as I like..I eat flax cereal sometimes. (cereal sometimes makes me yak).
I DO get a choc. crave and when I do, I have ONE small square of organic cherry, Almond, Dark choc bar..More than one square, I yak. SMILE.
I drink two or three cups organic coffee a day, Lots of water daily, and an ocasional glass of wine. Never anything cabonated.
I don't have a regular exercise program. I just do things I like to do. I like to canoe, hike, dance, swim and garden.
I take supplements:
Rainbow Light, Women's one
GNC calcium Citrate 1000
Maca
Gensing
Fish oil
Highest weight 259
Lowest weight 145
current weight 150
I'm 5'9". 54 years young.
I'm doing well, just hormonal.
