Food Stuck in Throat Feeling
Hi guys!
I thought I would ask your opinion on this...I am on full liquids now and have been for about a week. I am three weeks out and feel pretty good. I have a feeling in my throat like food is stuck there (this is also the same feeling I had when I had acid reflux). My doc said he repaired my hiatal hernia but this feeling is back.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I had this feeling too and explained it to my surgeon. He told me that is where my pouch is located. I was eating too much. When I eat smaller amounts I do not have this feeling.
Also, I had a stricture at 3 weeks post op and had it dilated via endoscopy. With the stricture, I threw up everything but clear liquids. My passage narrowed to 1/4 inch. I am all better now :-)
I take 2 meds for this issue; pepsid and protonix. Still taking both + a gall stone inhibitor med with meals.
So, try eating small amounts and see if you still have the sensation of something being stuck...also try gravy or dressings or dips with food. They seem to help me.
Good luck to you.

Hey! I am sorry for not updating...I had an Upper GI series done and the results were normal. The "feeling" in my throat is just that a "feeling." There is nothing physically stuck in my throat. The doctor said I am having minor esophageal spasms and if those continue I can take antibiotics to relax the esophagous.
He reassured me that there is nothing there and it is not reflux.
I hope this helps.
