Just Devastated
I went from Ottawa to Montreal by train alone and back... I stayed alone in a hotel for 3 nights after my surgery and had a friend drop in on me int he daytime...you can do it alone if yoi have to, people have done so and survived OK. It would be better if you could ask someone on the Ontario Board living in Toronto to look in on you, they would do it as an ANGEL for you...I'd offer to help but will be out of the country...Do not give up, especially with surgery booked and the hotel prepaid..a local WLS veteran will look in on you if you ask for help and company! Just go to the ONTARIO BOARD and ask for help...we are there for you...Think of taking the train alone to Toronto and back...you can do it, I did.a porter at both ends of the train journey took care of my luggage on the way back..for a couple of dollars...IT IS NOT A PROBLEM...
Edited to add:
Come over here and we will get you an Angel while you are in Toronto, and put you on the train or bus back to Rockland...

THanks everyone for your concern and wonderful suggestions. They all went into my Plans C,D and E. through some minor miracle, my husband can now get the time off. I am so relieved I think I cried harder when he told me that than when he told me he couldn't go. So we are back to plan A. I really appreciate everyone's support and encouragement through this very stressful emotional rollercoaster!
