Thirsty

My doc says I need to drink between 48-60 oz of fluid a day. I am drinking more than that-between 64 and 80. I would say on average 32 oz are pure water, another 15--20 are crystal light and/or life waters. The rest are milk and broth. I don't even count the jello, Popsicles or pudding as liquids! But I am thirsty, especially during the night. Blood sugars are between 125-175--they want me a little high because when I drop I DROP and it takes forever to get me back up. It would be worse because then I would start dumping like crazy with the amount of sugar is normally took to get it back up. And for the last 3-4 days, I have lost nothing!

Any thoughts?

Nothing definitive, but just FYI I routinely drink over 64 oz. of fluid and can STILL feel thirsty if I don't keep a water bottle at my side.

The night time thirst is worth watching, though. Keep an eye on the sugar levels would be my best suggestion.

8 days after surgery for me, and I am always thirsty too. I think part of it is the small sips I need to take now, instead of big gulps like I used to. It's also hard to wait an hour after eating to start drinking again (dr's rule), even though I had mastered this in my 4 months pre-op. I just keep my water bottle with me- not sure what else to do.
