no wait, i have a date

I finally got a call from my surgeon's office. They hadnt recieved my approval letter but got the ref # from mine. I was told I would hear from the Nurse and get scheduled for surgery and pre-admission testing. So more waiting but I'm one step closer.

I have something scheduled for the 8th but she didn't have the info as to what it was. now I have to figure out who to call to find out what I need to know.

apparently my surgery is on the 8th. just great. vacation on liquid diet.
on the phone now to confirm.

Awesome.  I just got my date on last Friday, 08/24/2011.  Now I have begun to get anxious and excited.  Maybe we can support each other through the liquid diet and then pretty much the rest of our lives.

thanks :) I'm all fluttery and anxious myself. I had hoped for a later date cause of my vacation and my mom's upcoming surgery (plastics) but I'll take what I can get. less waiting is a good thing :)

Yeah, I have been freaking out the last week.  I have not been eating very thoughtfully, like I'm never having it again.  But when I had lunch with my friend, she is about 10 years post now, she said do not think that way.  You could possibly still eat some things, just a lot less of them.  I'm supposed to start my liquid diet in a week.  My contact at my surgeon's office said they want me on it longer because I have a a slow moving stomach.  This way my stomach should be empty at the time of surgery.  3 weeks on liquids, that is going to be rough, but I guess I should look at like a training course for after the surgery. 

Did you hear from your surgeon's office yet as to a go for your original date? I hope so.  Please let me know, and I look forward to sharing my journey with you.  I hope you feel the same way, I think it will help having someone going through the same thing at the same times.

I know how you feel about not having things again. Thankfuly I've spent the last 6 months slowly getting myself used to eating more healthy. I had my last grilled cheese (for a while) and had a nice tomatoe on it, it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had :)
I will be going in on the 8th. mom will be upset but that's just the way it is. It's going to be tough being on liquids on vacation, but hopefully we get to do a lot of things to keep my mind off the hunger. It will be better than sitting at home.
Good luck with your 3 weeks, I am sure you will do fine.

I will be in Las Vegas for the first day of my liquid diet, but you know what, the machines will keep me preoccupied.  Pennies last quite a while.

Best wishes for your liquid fest as well.  Just remember why we are doing this in the first place, and we will make it through.
