Plastic surgery consult--there is hope afterall!!
Had a really wonderful consult today!!The doctor spent well over an hour with me. Really lovely fellow--literally and figuratively. Would have prefered some old, ugly sucker to be tugging on my rolls, but he did not make me feel self concious one little bit.
The long story short is that he said I am a candidate at my current weight for a Lower Body Lift with vertical incision and an inner thigh lift all with the understanding that I'm going for better, not perfect, and that is exactly where my mind is. Anything has to be better than the current state of affair in my mid to nether regions. He said he will do the procedures at the same time only because I'm not asking for breast or arm work at the same time. He is also going to address my turkey waddle on my neck with liposuction and lasering which he said can produce an excellent tightened appearance (due to internal scarring) on someone with the little *****is description) of laxity that I have. He did not want to do a more drastic neck lift at my age--said it was overkill. I'm also going to have a chemical peel, but the in-office variety and not the someone-took-a-blow-torch-to-your-face variety. He actually discouraged my having any arm work since I am not willing to do the long arm scar. He said the short arm scar would leave me disappointed that there was not much improvement and said I didn't have the tremendous amount of overhang at the elbow that many have to really merit the procedure. Triceps machine here I come! (I know, I know--I can't spot reduce!) I love that he was not trying to upsell procedures. He is very focused on safety, which I love.
The price tag isn't much more than a decent used car (closer to 15K than 20), so I am pleased with that. I have two more consults to have before I decide, but I really liked the time he spent, his focus on safety, and the fact that he did not try to sell me more procedures than I asked for and actually discouraged those that wouldn't produce a wanted outcome.

Sounds like a very sensible doctor and conservative. Is there any chance your insurance will pay for any?
I've been thinking so much about plastic surgery lately. I have to be honest - I look at other peoples pictures and I wonder if the pain and cost are worth it. At my age (42) I wouldn't expect perfect, certainly, but I think I'd want things a certain way and nothing is a guarantee.....
I still have thirty pounds to lose and I have to stay there awhile before I'll let my mind wander to plastic surgery too much. I can say if the boobs continue to go (44DD to a 36C at this point) I will do that for sure. My tummy isn't bad but my thighs look horrible to me. I've heard that is the worst procedure and hardest to heal from though.
How much recovery time will you need?
