Mine was March 15th.

I'm so happy I did this.  Things are going well, I've lost 75 pounds and am in onederland now.  I found a shake and a bar that I love but I'm really getting most of my protein from food at this point.

My surgery date was Mar.8, 2011.  I have been very fortunate with no side effects.  I am sticking to my surgeon/NUTS plan, have not ventured off and tried any breads, pastas, rice..sticking to protein which for me is mostly chicken, tuna, refried beans, cheese, cottage cheese.  I can eat any meat, yes steak included.  I have never dumped, never vomited or got the foamies.

I know I eat a little faster now but still chew my food so not to get anything stuck.  I asked the question a month or so ago about how fast people are eating, are they still taking 30 minutes to eat, most answers were "NO" it just not need to take that long to chew 3 ounces of food.

I believe I have done well with the weight loss.  According to the scales I have lost over 80 pounds.  My goal was to loose 104-107 pounds so as of date I have lost 80% of my excess weight.  My surgeon states that patients can lose 70-80 percent of their excess weight, I have reached that goal and I know my body is not done losing because the weight is still dropping without any problems.  Probably one of my concerns is that I might get to "thin" and look sickly.  I have read enough on this site to know that is common but there will be some bounce back weight.

I actually bought a size "XL" shirt from the junior section.....yes I said JUNIOR you know those tiny little high school type girls.    I still walk into the JC Penneys in my town and the first section in the doors is the plus size and I have to concentrate to keep on walking back towards the misses section....too many years in the plus size department.

I think you know that you are where you are suppose to be at this time.  I wanted to compare my weight loss with others but again this site has helped me to identify that we are not all alike in body type, bone structure, height....and so on.  I am what I am........:)

My best to you in your journey...keep in touch

RNY on 03/16/11 with
HI - I had my surgery on March 16h (great club to be in)  I've lost 103 pounds - 30 before RYN and 73 afterwards.  I feel amazing and the compliments are coming.  I've only had problems eating 3 times (lessons learned I tell you) - once with leftovers (never again) and then watermelon (eating too fast when I was really thristy) and then recent with spicy chicken.  I tried a small piece of steak during camping recently and that was terrible.  Won't do that again.  Ground meat is not a problem and I love fish, cheese, yogurt.

My problem is that I also have nuts and crackers.  I use to have them during meals just to help with texture but now I'm finding I need something between meals.  I also like jerky and cheese but sometimes (like today) I really want to try something off of my list.  Haven't had rice or pasta.  I've had a few pieces of fresh bread but I'm ok without it.  Was on vacation recently and really wanted to have a piece of someone's dessert - I did it and now I'm ok but yesterday I had some chocolate and then confessed to my husband.  He said to keep busy and focus on my vitamins and calcium chews if I need something sweet.  I've been so busy since surgery that I haven't missed my trigger foods but over the last few days - something has changed.

I am thrilled with 103 pounds gone and I'm working out and enjoying it.  I just hope that I'm not eating too much and can work out some of these recent cravings.  I just tried protein bars for the first time, as I was just doing Nectar protein but they are 100 calories more than a shake so I don't plan on making them a habit.  My fear is that I'm getting bored and need to be creative with receipes and new protein options.

When we lose so quickly, it is sometimes hard to change the person inside but I love smaller clothes and I like seeing people that I haven't seen in awhile.  My hair is thinning and I am constantly picking up hair that I lose.  I know it is part of it.

Enjoy the journey and I hope that I've been helpful.  Joanne
