Claritan D Please Respond!!
I was put on Claritan D a week ago and I'm having some very uncomfortable side effects...dizziness,restlessness,sweating etc. I just read that this dryg can also cause stomach irritation. My prime care physician is well aware that I'm post-op RNY but I'm getting the feeling she made a mistake with this Rx.
Anyone else who is post-op take this? The positive side effect is that I can hear out of my right ear now..but the other side effects make this one pale :o(
Suggestions?? Should I stick it out or could this damage my pouch...it's already affecting my work!

I take Claritin D daily, and even took it the day after my surgery.
Its the "D" or the decongestant part of it that is likely causing the restlessness and dizziness. You might want to see if you can switch to plain old Claritin if its just for allergies. Or, if its the 24 hour pill, switch to the 12 hour. I had to do that so I could fall asleep at night.

I never could take it, I'm allergic to the decongestant in it. I use zyrtec and a generic store decongestant when I need it that I'm NOT allergic to. The side effects you describe were what I had, and then the hives started....you might see if the Dr. can give you regular claritin (or you can buy it OTC) and then add a different decongestant.
