Just Got Home From Having Surgery!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I just got home from the hospital this evening. I was in there for five days due to being a revision and my surgeon just wanted to make sure that I was ok before he released me.

My surgery was on Monday, August 22nd. My surgery was lap and lasted for five hours and was in the hospital for five days.

Upon waking up in the recovery room, I could not catch my breath to save my neck. The recovery room person said I had 100% oxygen and that the gas was laying on my diaphragm which is why I felt as though I could not breathe, that was scary!!

I was sent home on a liquid diet due to the surgeon being extra careful with revisions. The liquid diet does not bother me near as much as the liquid diet bothered me pre-op since now my stomach is much smaller and I don't feel as though I am starving to death.

My potassium was low so they sent me home with a prescription for potassium.

So, how are the rest of my OH friends doing who had surgery on Monday and the rest of this week? How did it go for you?

Thanks for all those who prayed.

I am a week and a half out - glad to hear you are home and doing as best as can be!

Did they send you home with the liquid potassium? I finally finished my seven days of it today. It was sooooo salty, and I am glad to be over it. But, the one night I forgot to take it, I had horrible RLS all night - so tough it out and take it.

Restless Leg Syndrome.

wish I had pills post-op like I did pre-op - the liquid is horrid! But, the pills I had were horse pills, so those likely would have been a pain, too!

Welcome home!

Potassium seems to hit quiet a few new post-ops.  I had it too, liquid form the first time and again at 3 months I was low again but took it in pill form.

This is off topic, but I wanted to thank you for the quote in your signature!  I am having surgery on Monday and have been made to feel bad by some people's opinions that I shouldn't have the surgery because I am not super morbidly obese.  I have comorbidities, the worse being a severe case of GERD with esophageal changes and my surgeon assures me the RNY will cure it.  I have not let these other people's opinions keep me from having the surgery, but your quote has reminded me that I am indeed worth the journey.

Wynter so glad your surgery went well and that you are home now. I had low potassium a couple yrs ago while going thru chemo and my doc put me on potassium supplements. mine came in little packets (it was orange flavored) and I just added it to some juice or other liquid. It didn't taste bad. Maybe you could ask your doc to prescribe that? Anyways, good luck and I hope you have a speedy and uneventful recovery.
