Gas From Lap RNY Surgery
The gas feels like it is stuck up under my ribs and my back hurts! They said sometimes the gas also causes back pain and that sometimes it's the way they have you lying on the operating table.
I have had pain in my shoulders sometimes too.
I know it's different for everyone, but how long did it take you to get rid of the painful gas from surgery?
I've been doing my walking.
I've passed very little gas. Is getting rid of the gas from lap surgery the same as getting rid of other gas? I mean for it to come out, it has to come out one end of the other right or am I misunderstanding how we get rid of it?

isn't the shoulder pain crazy! i woke up saying hey I feel pretty good except my shoulders are really sore....it is from blowing you up like a balloon. Some one posted a lap RNY operation video and I watched it, I was amazed home much air they put in you. I bet it give us more stretch marks it is suck a huge bubble.

I had that pain off and on for 3 weeks after surgery. I was told to lay on my right side for a while. It sounds strange...but for some reason...it works. I think it has something to do with the way the bypassed section is connected to the intestines. Laying on your right side helps the "gas bubbles" move through you easier. Walking was very helpful also. It's worth a try!
