Why?? New joint pain everywhere post-op!
pre-op, I never had joint pain like this.... I only had knee problems from multiple surgeries.
Now, my knees are "fine", however over the last few months I have been developing very severe joint pain in my ankles, my big toe, and severe pain in both rotator cuffs.
Its not exercise related because I do not do overly excessive workouts. I only do Richard Simmons for the cardio, and I dont lift weights. For the shoulders, I been trying to stretch every morning and night to loosen them, but it doesnt seem to be getting any better.
also, my tail bone isnt getting any better. That started hurting about 2 months post-op and now I cant sit for long periods of time. I need to get up every hour or so or it really hurts.
Anyone have joint problems post-op ?

I went through a LOT of pain for several months. I still have pain from my arthritis. It's worse than ever since I don't have the insulation to help it out. LOL!
As far as the other pain, I'll tell you what my doctor and chiropractor told me...
Shoulders, backs, knees, ankles, etc, more than likely, have stretches ligaments from being heavier. As we lose our weight, our ligaments and tendons are still longer with more room to move around which causes issues of pain, tendonitis, etc.
Also, our ankles, backs, muscles, etc are getting used to new postures and walking patterns, because they also change as we lose weight. It does even out, but I will say that getting adjustments and physical therapy throughout the beginning truly helped with the pain.
Hope it evens out for you soon!

When I had my first WLS, after about a year I started having severe pains in my joints. At the time I didn't think it was connected to my surgery but after seeing my doctor and being sent to a specialist they found I had reactive arthritis. My first surgery was very malabsorptive and I had bad diarrhea. I thought it was normal for the type of surgery I had but it turns out I had SIBO, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. It caused an auto immune response and I developed the joint pain and a rash. Fortunately the doctor I went to see had seen this one time before in a patient who had WLS and did a biopsy of my rash and was able to identify my problem.
I'm not saying this is your problem but if you are having any diarrhea and rashes it may be worth looking into.

I am just shy of two weeks post-op, and my tailbone is killing me! I have been reading other posts on here about tailbone pain, and many say they are told they may have fell and bruised their tailbone in the past and the weight loss they are experiencing is allowing the pain to manifest (less "padding" on the tailbone). Tailbones apparently can take several years to heal. I fell off a ladder just over a year ago and landed on my arse...but I am wondering why mine is hurting so early out - I'm just barely at two weeks!
My dad also had feet joint problems after RNY, after dealing with SEVERE pain for about 6 months he was diagnosed with Reiters syndrome. For some reason they are finding that many people that have RNY develop Reiters syndrome. There is a test that needs to be done to see if you have a type of chromozone in your body.
