Dreaded Gas!

Has anyone else been like a total wind bag after surgery?  I seem to be a constant source of gas.  Does gasex really help?

I was told that would be normal and yes I was. It's because they pump air into you when they do the surgery. I haven't tried gasex or anything and im almost two weeks out and I am not as gassy as I was right after the surgery.

6 weeks out and still full of wind.  Was a blessing when it first came almost a week after surgery!

Thanks everyone.  Walking and quietly passing gas is not an option in my office, as it stays pretty quiet most of the time.  I'm two weeks out, and yes the relief of letting go is a beautiful thing, but it always seems to me that I'm a factory of one that keeps producing all day long!!!  I will try the gasex while at work, so I can at least spare them.  My roomate said let em rip at home if it makes me feel better, bless her heart, my true friend.

At 1st the gas was painful and lasted for a while.  I am 1 yr out and still gassy (stinky bad gassy).  I figure this is just one of the negatives from the surgery.  I feel sorry for my family having to suffer through it.  I keep wondering if this will be "lifelong".
I can say I would rather be skinny with stinky farts (often) than be over weight again so good luck and it may just be something we deal with

Yes, Gas X will help, but in the interim, get some Devrom, available online. These are handy-dandy little chewables (taste like banana) that quite simply take the odor out of our emissions. You will still have the vapor release, but it won't be noticible.

Good luck working on the "Silent" part!

Oh, also, check to see how many sugar alcohols you're eating. These artificial sugars will do a real number on our digestive systems.

Best wishes,

Devrom is highly recommended by some post ops I know.  Some post ops have a gas issue long term. Some only occasionally.  Each patient is different.  If you have a chance to do some walking at lunch or at breaktime, the movement may help expel the gas outside instead of while in the working environment.  DAVE
