TMI ALERT: Pooping and Passing Out
Even before WLS I was a 4 time a week pooper with no rhyme or reason as to when I would go. Because of that I have not been concerned that 6 weeks out I am only pooping 1-2 times per week with significant calorie reduction.
Today, however, I had a major poop problem. If you get grossed out easily, stop reading now. (of course I suspect that's like telling someone not to look at the car accident on the side of the road...you just can't resist).
So I have been feeling a little bloated the past few days but hadn't reached the point where the poop was ready to come out. I tried yesterday and no go. So today, I felt like crap and tried again. I could tell it was a big one so took my time on the toilet gentlyl pushing. After about 15 minutes I started to feel like the poop was stuck. Literally. I wasn't feeling very well at this point and just wanted the damn thing out of me. But I stuck it out and kept trying to push a little harder. No luck but I started sweating and feeling very nauseated. I grabbed the trash can in case I vomited. I didn't, but did get the foamies. At this point I felt so lightheaded and miserable I didn't know what to do. I tried to "suck it back in" but knew it had to come out somehow. I was to the point of passing out and gave one final delerious push and out game the largest poop I've ever seen. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the size and girth of my fist. I felt like I just gave birth. Immediatly I collapsed on the floor of the bathroom, sweating and feeling horrible and lightheaded. I didn't actually pass out but if I hadn't laid down, I would have. After about 15 minutes of laying there, I got back up- a little weaker- but feeling waaay better.
So my question is- is it possible for a poop to make you pass out? Obviously I must be having some sort of lack of fiber in my diet if I'm this constipated, but I'm just concerned that pooping made me this sick.
Sorry for the graphic nature and TMI but I'm really concerned about this!

I've had this happen a few times in my life. Sweating, feeling horrible, lightheaded...but not actually to the point of passing out. Of course, I've never passed out in my life, so maybe I can't gauge, but the sweating???? Pouring off me in buckets.
Anyway, I went camping a couple of weeks ago and didn't get in all my water or much fiber. Oh, boy. What was stuck in me was dry, crumbly stuff, and it took a bunch of stool softeners, pain, walking, sweat, pain, walking, nausea, pain before everything moved. It was like having dry heaves in reverse as well. Again, likely TMI, but I can definitely feel YOUR pain!
I am again now very diligent in getting in stool softeners and/or Miralax to some degree every day, ALL my fluid, and some sort of fiber as well--either Benefiber or fruits and veggies.
It's the not pooping in a regular, healthy way that makes us sick. I'd look into taking something for a while so it doesn't happen again.

Yes, it is possible to pass out while pooping. Straining and bearing down can cause a reaction called "vagaling," which causes the heart rate to decrease, making one feel dizzy and even actually pass out. Try increasing your water and fiber intake. Next time, if you go without a BM for a couple of days, try a stool softener, such as Dulcolax or Colace. If all else fails, you may need to do a saline enema, but this is only if necessary. Hope the info helps.
OMG! I feel for you, but you have made me LMAO here, I have never gone poop better than I have since my RNY, what a wonderfull thing! Like Dr. Oz said it should be long and snake like. Well I do that now, I eat amonds every other day plus I think getting ur water helps a lot. In the first weeks after surgery I did get the sweats sitting on the thrown,
I would push all around the outer sides of my anal to help it come out, try it, it works. but now 7 months out I poop really good. Hope things get better for you. Thanks for the belly Laugh I really needed to laugh. Stay healthy and have fun losing most of your body. SW 220 PW 149, & loving it. I just hope I don't go down tooo much further. Pray that I don't get grossly thin, and level soon.
