I have never regretted having RNY surgery and after visiting with my surgeon on Friday, I am blessed to have insurance that ok'd my surgery and for insisting that they (ins) work with a Center of Excellance" facility-Which lead me to Virginia Mason and Dr. Jeffrey Hunter.

I had my 6mo post op and I have lost 96 pounds, my BMI is 29 (Dr.Hunter said he considered a healthy BMI under 30)....so I am still in the higher range of "healthy", my body fat mass is 1% above normal at this point.  So it appears my doctors office had me at 272 pounds the day of surgery so with the 96 pound loss I am weighing in at 176. My ticker is slightly different because I honestly did not remember what I weighed going into surgery, came home and went with what was on the scale three or four days after surgery.  My scales says I weigh 171.6....so there is the difference in scales and the time of day we weigh.   Dr.Hunter said that was a good weight for me, I am 5.7.  I can still lose more because I have time left in my window.  Perhaps it won't be so much about losing more weight but to continue to stay with my eating plan and exercise plan so that when my window closes I have been living a good healthy lifestyle.

I went from a size 22-24 down to a size 12.  I thought when I started that a 14 would be nice, I am pleased with a 12 and very comfortable.

Someday I will post a before and after.

Take care everyone, follow your surgeons plan.

Susan, I am a grandma too.  One day I was watching my little one year granddaughter, who barely could walk.  We were outdoors and she took off like a bat out of H&$$.  I had a difficult time trying to catch her because my weight was effecting me something fierce, she was heading towards the street, I panicked like I had never panicked before.  This is when I made the decision to have the WLS, I want to be around for my grandkids, to play and run with them.  I wish you everything that RNY has given me.  Keep up the good work, the plan.
